The new camera system also enables Portrait Lighting, which defines the light in a scene. The iPhone was initially released with two options for internal storage size: The SIM sits in a tray, which is inserted into a slot at the top of the device.

In the case of Verizon, for example, one can request that the SIM slot be unlocked for international use by calling their support number and requesting an international unlock if their account has been in good standing for the past 60 days.

The iPhone 5 and later iPhones use the nano-SIM, in order to save more space for internal components. All iPhones as well as many other devices by Apple have a small disc at the bottom of the headphone jack that changes from white to red on contact with water; the iPhone 3G and later models also have a similar indicator at the bottom of the dock connector.

The iPhone's indicators are more exposed than those in some mobile phones from other manufacturers, which carry them in a more protected location, such as beneath the battery behind a battery cover.

These indicators can be triggered during routine use, by an owner's sweat, [] steam in a bathroom, and other light environmental moisture. All iPhone models include written documentation, and a dock connector to USB cable.

The first generation and 3G iPhones also came with a cleaning cloth. The first generation iPhone included a stereo headset earbuds and a microphone and a plastic dock to hold the unit upright while charging and syncing.

The iPhone 3G includes a similar headset plus a SIM eject tool the first generation model requires a paperclip. The iPhone 3GS includes the SIM eject tool and a revised headset, which adds volume buttons not functional with previous iPhone versions.

The iPhone 3G and 3GS are compatible with the same dock, sold separately, but not the first generation model's dock. In September, with the launch of the iPhone 6 , Apple announced Apple Pay, a mobile payments system.

The feature, aimed to "revolutionize" the way users pay, uses an NFC chip, Touch ID fingerprint scanner, Apple's Wallet app, and a dedicated "Secure Element" chip for encrypted payment information to make purchases at participating stores, both physical and online.

The iPhone comes with a set of bundled applications developed by Apple, [] and supports downloading third-party applications through the App Store. Apple provides free [] updates to the operating system for the iPhone either wirelessly or through iTunes.

The size of the operating system depends on version. While iOS 8 required over 4. The interface is based around the home screen, a graphical list of available applications. Starting with the iPhone 4, a primitive version of multitasking came into play.

Users could double click the home button to select recently opened applications. Starting with iOS 7, though, apps can truly multitask, and each open application runs in the background when not in use, although most functionality is still available when making a call or listening to music.

The home screen can be accessed at any time by a hardware button below the screen, closing the open application in the process. The original iPhone contained the following icons apps: YouTube no longer came as a pre-installed application.

Docked at the base of the screen, four icons for Phone, Mail, Safari Internet, and Music delineate the iPhone's main purposes. After the update, iPhone users can rearrange and place icons by holding down on any icon and moving it to the desired location once they start shaking on up to nine other adjacent home screens, accessed by a horizontal swipe.

Users can also add and delete icons from the dock, which is the same on every home screen. Each home screen holds up to twenty icons for the first-generation iPhone, 3G, 4 and 4S, while each home screen for iPhone 5 holds up to twenty-four icons due to a larger screen display, and the dock holds up to four icons.

Users can delete Web Clips and third-party applications at any time, and may select only certain applications for transfer from iTunes. Apple's default programs, could only be removed since the iOS 10 update.

Almost all input is given through the touch screen, which understands complex gestures using multi-touch. The iPhone's interaction techniques enable the user to move the content up or down by a touch-drag motion of the finger.

For example, zooming in and out of web pages and photos is done by placing two fingers on the screen and spreading them farther apart or bringing them closer together, a gesture known as " pinching ".

Scrolling through a long list or menu is achieved by sliding a finger over the display from bottom to top, or vice versa to go back. In either case, the list moves as if it is pasted on the outer surface of a wheel, slowly decelerating as if affected by friction.

In this way, the interface simulates the physics of a real object. Unlike previous scrollable views, in which the user pressed a "down" control to move the view "downwards", on iOS the user pushes upwards, as if moving a "plank of wood floating on the water", creating the impression that the user is directly manipulating the content displayed on the screen.

Other user-centered interactive effects include horizontally sliding sub-selection, the vertically sliding keyboard and bookmarks menu, and widgets that turn around to allow settings to be configured on the other side.

Menu bars are found at the top and bottom of the screen when necessary. Their options vary by program, but always follow a consistent style motif. In menu hierarchies, a "back" button in the top-left corner of the screen displays the name of the parent folder.

The iPhone allows audio conferencing, call holding, call merging, caller ID, and integration with other cellular network features and iPhone functions. For example, if music is playing when a call is received, the music fades out, and fades back in when the call has ended.

The proximity sensor shuts off the screen and touch-sensitive circuitry when the iPhone is brought close to the face, both to save battery and prevent unintentional touches.

The iPhone does not support video calling or videoconferencing on versions prior to the fourth generation, as there is only one camera on the opposite side of the screen.

The iPhone includes a visual voicemail in some countries [] feature allowing users to view a list of current voicemail messages on-screen without having to call into their voicemail.

Unlike most other systems, messages can be listened to and deleted in a non-chronological order by choosing any message from an on-screen list. A music ringtone feature was introduced in the United States on September 5, Users can create custom ringtones from songs purchased from the iTunes Store for a small additional fee.

The ringtones can be three to 30 seconds long from any part of a song, can fade in and out, pause from half a second to five seconds when looped, or loop continuously. All customizing can be done in iTunes, [] or with Apple's GarageBand software 4.

With the release of iOS 6 , which was released on September 19, , Apple added features that enable the user to have options to decline a phone call when a person is calling them. The user can reply with a message, or to set a reminder to call them back at a later time.

The layout of the music library is similar to that of an iPod or current Symbian S60 phones. The iPhone can sort its media library by songs, artists, albums, videos, playlists, genres, composers, podcasts, audiobooks, and compilations.

Options are always presented alphabetically, except in playlists, which retain their order from iTunes. The iPhone uses a large font that allows users plenty of room to touch their selection. Users can rotate their device horizontally to landscape mode to access Cover Flow.

Like on iTunes, this feature shows the different album covers in a scroll-through photo library. Scrolling is achieved by swiping a finger across the screen. Alternatively, headset controls can be used to pause, play, skip, and repeat tracks.

On the iPhone 3GS, the volume can be changed with the included Apple Earphones, and the Voice Control feature can be used to identify a track, play songs in a playlist or by a specific artist, or create a Genius playlist.

The iPhone supports gapless playback. Double-tapping switches between widescreen and fullscreen video playback. The iPhone allows users to purchase and download songs from the iTunes Store directly to their iPhone.

The feature originally required a Wi-Fi network, but now since, can use the cellular data network if one is not available. The iPhone includes software that allows the user to upload, view, and email photos taken with the camera.

The user zooms in and out of photos by sliding two fingers further apart or closer together, much like Safari. The camera application also lets users view the camera roll, the pictures that have been taken with the iPhone's camera.

Those pictures are also available in the Photos application, along with any transferred from iPhoto or Aperture on a Mac, or Photoshop on a Windows PC. By default, the iPhone will ask to join newly discovered Wi-Fi networks and prompt for the password when required.

Alternatively, it can join closed Wi-Fi networks manually. Airplane mode disables all wireless connections at once, overriding other preferences. Safari is the iPhone's native web browser, and it displays pages similar to its Mac and Windows counterparts.

Web pages may be viewed in portrait or landscape mode and the device supports automatic zooming by pinching together or spreading apart fingertips on the screen, or by double-tapping text or images.

The iPhone does not support Flash, which was still popular when the iPhone was introduced. Consequently, the UK's Advertising Standards Authority adjudicated that an advertisement claiming the iPhone could access "all parts of the internet" should be withdrawn in its current form, on grounds of false advertising.

The Maps application can access Google Maps in map, satellite, or hybrid form. It can also generate directions between two locations, while providing optional real-time traffic information.

During the iPhone's announcement, Jobs demonstrated this feature by searching for nearby Starbucks locations and then placing a prank call to one with a single tap. The iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 can orient the map with its digital compass.

Simple weather and stock quotes applications also tap into the Internet. IPhone users can and do access the Internet frequently, and in a variety of places. According to Google, in, the iPhone generated 50 times more search requests than any other mobile handset.

This is 30 times the use for our average contract-based consumer customers. With the introduction of the Verizon iPhone in January, the issue of using internet while on the phone was brought to the public's attention.

For text input, the iPhone implements a virtual keyboard on the touchscreen. It has automatic spell checking and correction, predictive word capabilities, and a dynamic dictionary that learns new words.

The keyboard can predict what word the user is typing and complete it, and correct for the accidental pressing of keys near the presumed desired key. The keys are somewhat larger and spaced farther apart when in landscape mode, which is supported by only a limited number of applications.

Touching a section of text for a brief time brings up a magnifying glass, allowing users to place the cursor in the middle of existing text. The virtual keyboard can accommodate 21 languages, including character recognition for Chinese.

Alternative characters with accents for example, letters from the alphabets of other languages and emoji can be typed from the keyboard by pressing the letter for two seconds and selecting the alternative character from the popup.

Since iOS 8, third party keyboards, distributed through the App Store, are allowed. Previously, they were only available on jailbroken iPhones. The iPhone also features an email program that supports HTML email, which enables the user to embed photos in an email message.

Apple has also licensed Microsoft ActiveSync and supports the platform including push email with the release of iPhone 2. Text messages are presented chronologically in a mailbox format similar to Mail, which places all text from recipients together with replies.

Text messages are displayed in speech bubbles similar to iChat under each recipient's name. The iPhone has built-in support for email message forwarding, drafts, and direct internal camera-to-email picture sending.

Support for multi-recipient SMS was added in the 1. At WWDC on June 11, , Apple announced that the iPhone would support third-party web applications using Ajax that share the look and feel of the iPhone interface.

It is a free download, with an Apple registration, that allows developers to develop native applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch, then test them in an "iPhone simulator". However, loading an application onto a real device is only possible after paying an Apple Developer Connection membership fee.

Developers can also opt to release the application for free and will not pay any costs to release or distribute the application beyond the membership fee. The App Store was launched with the release of iOS 2.

Once a developer has submitted an application to the App Store, Apple holds firm control over its distribution. In, Apple rejected Podcaster, which allowed iPhone users to download podcasts directly to the iPhone claiming it duplicated the functionality of iTunes.

NetShare, another rejected app, would have enabled users to tether their iPhone to a laptop or desktop, using its cellular network to load data for the computer.

The original iPhone has been described as "revolutionary", [] a "game-changer" for the mobile phone industry, [] [] [] [] and has been credited with helping to make Apple one of the world's most valuable publicly traded companies by The iPhone attracts users of all ages, [34] and besides consumer use, the iPhone has also been adopted for business purposes.

Starting with the iPhone 4S, Apple added an accessibility feature to optimize the function of the iPhone with hearing aids. Made for iPhone hearing aids also feature Live Listen.

With Live Listen the iPhone acts as a remote microphone that sends sound to a Made for iPhone hearing aid. Live Listen can help the user hear a conversation in a noisy room or hear someone speaking across the room.

This program added support for more than 50 Bluetooth wireless braille displays that work with iOS out of the box. The user only needs to pair the keyboard to the device to start using it to navigate the iOS device with VoiceOver without any additional software.

IPhone lets the user know when an alert is sent to the it, in a variety of notice methods. It delivers both visual and vibrating alerts for incoming phone and FaceTime calls, new text messages, new and sent mail, and calendar events.

You can set an LED light flash for incoming calls and alerts. Or have incoming calls display a photo of the caller. Users can choose from different vibration patterns or even create their own.

The iPhone can enlarge text to make it more accessible for vision-impaired users, [] and can accommodate hearing-impaired users with closed captioning and external TTY devices. With the release of iOS 9 for all iPhones, users have the ability to choose between two different screen view options.

The user can choose to have a standard view or zoomed view. When the iPhone is placed in a standard view setting, the icons are normal size and the text remains the same. With a zoomed view option, the icons on the screen and the text become slightly larger.

This enables the user to have a more customized appearance and it can potentially help some users read the screen easier. This can be of great assistance to those who have difficulty with some gestures, like pinch, one can make them accessible with just a tap of a finger.

The user can create their own gestures and customize the layout of the AssistiveTouch menu. If the user has trouble pressing the Home button, it can be set so that it can be activated with an onscreen tap.

Gestures like rotate and shake are available even when if the iOS device is mounted on a wheelchair. Guided Access helps people with autism or other attention and sensory challenges stay focused on the task or app at hand.

With Guided Access, a parent, teacher, or therapist can limit an iOS device to stay on one app by disabling the Home button, and limit the amount of time spent in an app. The user can even restrict access to the keyboard or touch input on certain areas of the screen.

So wandering taps and gestures won't distract from learning. The models in bold are the current flagship devices of the series:. Apple has filed more than patent applications related to the technology behind the iPhone.

Infogear released a telephone with an integrated web browser under the name iPhone in As of October, only the Singapore and Australian applications had been granted.

Comwave has been selling VoIP devices called iPhone since Shortly after Steve Jobs' January 9, announcement that Apple would be selling a product called iPhone in June, Cisco issued a statement that it had been negotiating trademark licensing with Apple and expected Apple to agree to the final documents that had been submitted the night before.

On February 2, , Apple and Cisco announced that they had agreed to temporarily suspend litigation while they held settlement talks, [] and subsequently announced on February 20, , that they had reached an agreement.

Both companies will be allowed to use the "iPhone" name [] in exchange for "exploring interoperability" between their security, consumer, and business communications products.

Nokia alleges that Apple has been violating ten Nokia patents since the iPhone initial release. In August, Apple won a smartphone patent lawsuit in the U.

In March, an Apple patent for a wraparound display was revealed. Since April 20, , a hidden unencrypted file on the iPhone and other iOS devices has been widely discussed in the media.

Previous versions of iOS stored similar information in a file called "h-cells. F-Secure discovered that the data is transmitted to Apple twice a day and postulate that Apple is using the information to construct their global location database similar to the ones constructed by Google and Skyhook through wardriving.

The file is also automatically copied onto the user's computer once synchronized with the iPhone. An open source application named "iPhoneTracker", which turns the data stored in the file into a visual map, was made available to the public in April Apple gave an official response on their web site on April 27, , [] after questions were submitted by users, the Associated Press and others.

Apple clarified that the data is a small portion of their crowd-sourced location database cache of Wi-Fi hotspots and cell towers which is downloaded from Apple into the iPhone for making location services faster than with only GPS, therefore the data does not represent the locations of the iPhone.

The volume of data retained was an error. Apple issued an update for iOS version 4. A feature that can be found under "location services" in the settings of the iPhone has also been found to be secretly tracking the user's information.

This feature is called "frequent locations" and it can either be kept on or turned off. This feature is said to help the accuracy of the GPS and Apple Maps since it can log information about the locations the user has frequently visited.

However, this feature also keeps track of the number of times that the user has been to that location, the dates, and the exact times. A lot of people have found this feature to be intrusive of their personal lives and have since then had an option to keep it on or shut it off.

They can read almost all smartphone information, including SMS, location, emails, and notes. Throughout, prosecutors in the United States argued for the U. The shooters had destroyed their personal phones.

Even if they are disabled. As of April, Apple's Privacy Policy addresses requests from government agencies for access to customers' data: We have also never allowed any government access to our servers.

And we never will. Apple tightly controls certain aspects of the iPhone. According to Jonathan Zittrain, the emergence of closed devices like the iPhone have made computing more proprietary than early versions of Microsoft Windows.

The hacker community has found many workarounds, most of which are disallowed by Apple and make it difficult or impossible to obtain warranty service. SIM unlocking allows the iPhone to be used on a different carrier's network.

The iPhone also has an area and settings where users can set restrictions or parental controls [] on apps that can be downloaded or used within the iPhone. The restrictions area requires a password.

The iPhone normally prevents access to its media player and web features unless it has also been activated as a phone with an authorized carrier. On July 3, , Jon Lech Johansen reported on his blog that he had successfully bypassed this requirement and unlocked the iPhone's other features with a combination of custom software and modification of the iTunes binary.

He published the software and offsets for others to use. Unlike the first generation iPhone, the iPhone 3G must be activated in the store in most countries. The need for in-store activation, as well as the huge number of first-generation iPhone and iPod Touch users upgrading to iPhone OS 2.

After the update, devices were required to connect to Apple's servers to authenticate it, causing many devices to be temporarily unusable. Users on the O2 network in the United Kingdom, however, can buy the phone online and activate it via iTunes as with the previous model.

In the US, Apple has begun to offer free shipping on both the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS when available, reversing the in-store activation requirement. Best Buy and Walmart will also sell the iPhone.

The iPhone's operating system is designed to only run software that has an Apple-approved cryptographic signature. This restriction can be overcome by "jailbreaking" the phone, [] which involves replacing the iPhone's firmware with a slightly modified version that does not enforce the signature check.

Doing so may be a circumvention of Apple's technical protection measures. In, , and, developers released a series of tools called JailbreakMe that used security vulnerabilities in Mobile Safari rendering to jailbreak the device which allows users to install any compatible software on the device instead of only App Store apps.

Theoretically these flaws could have also been used for malicious purposes. In July, Apple released iOS 4. Following the release of the iPhone 5S model, a group of German hackers called the Chaos Computer Club announced on September 21, , that they had bypassed Apple's new Touch ID fingerprint sensor by using "easy everyday means.

The spokesman for the group stated: It is plain stupid to use something that you can't change and that you leave everywhere every day as a security token. Most iPhones were and are still [ citation needed ] sold with a SIM lock, which restricts the use of the phone to one particular carrier, a common practice with subsidized GSM phones.

Unlike most GSM phones however, the phone cannot be officially unlocked by entering a code. Apple speculates that they were likely shipped overseas and unlocked, a lucrative market before the iPhone 3G's worldwide release.

They are locked to the network initially, though they can usually be unlocked either after a certain period of contract length has passed, or for a small fee with the exception of the 3 network, which will unlock the device at any time for no charge.

Four major carriers in Australia Optus, Telstra, Virgin Mobile, and Vodafone [] offer legitimate unlocking, now at no cost for all iPhone devices, both current and prior models. Internationally, policies vary, but many carriers sell the iPhone unlocked for full retail price.

In, four years before the iPhone was officially introduced, the trademark iFone was registered in Mexico by a communications systems and services company, iFone. The case began in, when the Mexican firm sued Apple.

The Supreme court of Mexico upheld that iFone is the rightful owner and held that Apple iPhone is a trademark violation. According to the filing, Gradiente foresaw the revolution in the convergence of voice and data over the Internet at the time.

In Brazil, the final battle over the brandname concluded in On December 18, , IGB launched its own line of Android smartphones under the tradename to which it has exclusive rights in the local market.

The "iPhone" term was registered by Gradiente in, 7 years before Apple's release of its first iPhone. In June, Apple won, for the second time, the right to use the brandname in Brazil.

The court ruling determined that the Gradiente's registration does not own exclusive rights on the brand. Although Gradiente intended to appeal, with the decision Apple can use freely the brand without paying royalties to the Brazilian company.

Stylized as "my phone", Solid Broadband filed a trademark application of that brand. Apple lost the trademark battle to Solid Group in a decision made by IPO director Nathaniel Arevalo, who also reportedly said that it was unlikely that consumers would be confused between the "iPhone" and the "MyPhone".

Coming back to camera: OnePlus's marketing efforts have been focused at advertising great camera experience with OnePlus 5; however, the camera falls short of matching last year's Top camera phones Google Pixel and S7 series, or even OnePlus3 and S6 in certain aspects such as image details, image stabilisation and ISO control.

This also causes ISO to go higher. This affects OnePlus 5's capability to capture details in moderate to low light conditions for eg 11AM at home in Mumbai. This also increases noise in such shots.

OnePlus made a good move of going for a wider aperture this time and match other flagships in this regard. Technically the optical zoom is 1. This will still yield good results in daylight; but in low light this setup will produce high amount of noise again, no OIS and very narrow aperture.

OnePlus recognises this issue and switches to using Digital 2x zoom instead from the 16MP sensor under low light conditions like all other single cam cameras would do. Portrait mode - This is another feature that OnePlus 5's dual camera setup offers.

Originally debuted by hTC on M8 in, this feature aims at providing a bokeh effect in a pocket device. A natural bokeh can be produced on any camera by placing subject closer to lens while substantially farther from the background For eg Lens Background Dual camera setups try to achieve this by using Primary sensor for actual image capture and Secondary sensor for capturing depth of field data DoF is depth of the field in focus of camera.

This Secondary sensor task is achieved by a technic called "Edge detection", which basically tries to detect the edge of the subject within focused field. This works well on paper, but in real life it gets hampered by contrast between the subject and its surrounding objects.

By now, you might have understood that this feature is based on accuracy of "Edge detection" algorithm; and like any approximation algorithm, this one also produces errors. On OnePlus 5, these errors are very often and noticeable.

You can regularly notice blurred subject parts when there are other similar objects in background or nearby. One can hope that these can be fixed in future updates. This does help in video mode as one can see in many YouTube reviews.

EIS works on the data that is captured by camera sensor; since p 60fps and 4k modes capture substantially higher amount of data compared to p 30fps, OnePlus might have decided to not offer EIS on those modes due to lack of available CPU performance one of the possible reasons.

OIS on the other hand is a hardware level technology that offsets for minute vibrations, shakes etc to camera usually due to our hands not being sturdy. EIS on the other hand has does not help in terms of image capture, and you can see how that affects image capture as mentioned in 1st point.

There are 2 reasons for that: Many reviews online use a tripod for capturing images; in that case image stabilisation does not come into play. Images shown in reviews are not at full resolution; what you see is at your screen resolution.

It is the quality at full resolution that gives a clearer picture pun intended this time. You might get disappointed by the OnePlus 5 camera if: You take alot of pictures indoors food pics, parties, etc 2.

You crop images post capture for clearer visibility of subject 3. Noise in image is off-putting for you 4. You want the absolutely best camera phone out there Having said this, I would still recommend getting this phone if camera is not on your list of priorities.

If camera is a priority for phone purchase then last year's Google Pixel or Samsung S7 are selling for attractive price point k range depending upon deals you encounter. Comment 79 people found this helpful.

Midnight Black Verified Purchase. No customer support from oneplus. It could have been resulted in a tragedy also. I was fortunate enough to stop the power supply after smoke came out from it and before it could have blasted.

Called and mailed customer care many times but there is no response at all. I have all calls recorded and mails saved which I will use in consumer forum soon. If you are unfortunate like few 1 starrer people, your Rs.

See all customer images. Most recent customer reviews. Published 57 minutes ago. Published 3 hours ago. Published 5 hours ago. And then you call out this phone for having a "reasonable" price.

OnePlus have their reasons for pricing this phone like this. But other manufacturers don't and can't. So why is AP always surprised of the prices of high-end phones? The thing is today with these grade systems that a 5 is perceived as a bad thing.

When reviewers have that bias too, it doesn't matter. A 5 is terrible in that respect. I wish it wasn't true, but it is. While a 5 might actually mean "average" on a scale, we all know that any device with anything under a score of 7 on these sites means "crap" Lol And it's usually true.

This site complains about every high-end phone having a dollar price tag, and then calls this phone having a "reasonable" price. And they rightfully deserve people complaining about those high prices.

Hey Ryan Whitwam please stop being objective and start praising Samsung, you're ruining this guy's day. Because we, regular AP readers, all know that the ad revenue is nothing compared to what Samsung pays you.

And Can a person have an opinion - that goes against the editor - without being shoved in to the "fanboy"-pool? Did I say they should stop praising Samsung, or that they're getting payed by Samsung?

Im pointing out the fact that AP mentions the price as something negative for all high-end phones. Samsung is the only exception, but I'm not complaining about that, I just mentioned that because it's true.

The high-end phones have always costed in that price range. To think that dollars for a high-end phone is a "reasonable" price and that it is sustainable, seems way off.

Can a person have an opinion - that goes against the editor - without being shoved in to the "fanboy"-pool? Value is more than just specifications and MSRP.

Value is post-purchase support, it's [hardware and software] quality assurance, it's customer service in the event of a failure. It's practical experience I don't see anyone raving that the OP3 is matching the S7's camera, display, or battery life.

This is like saying a Mustang GT is a "steal" compared to a Corvette because the latter costs a lot more but has basically the same amount of horsepower. If we ignore the aspects of value and practical reality that are inconvenient to our argument, we can justify a lot of things.

But if you're just going to boil it down to price: There's more to it than that. I hate it when people try to be rational and reasonable. It is so un-Internet like. Nobody seriously said anything about Samsung paying anyone -- it was a joke that apparently flew way too high.

Samsung is not an exception to AP's criticism -- we support prejudice equality, in that everyone gets shit for what they do. It's become obvious that the price is artificially inflated to make people believe that a Galaxy S7 is as good a product as an iPhone 6S which is very much not the case -- pick whatever phone you like but in the end Apple's customer service is amazing and worth the extra price while Samsung provides nothing extra for the inflated margin.

Cut down Samsung's margins and you get a realistic price for what you get when you buy the phone. Anandtech has called the display with it's current calibration as, "I don't think it's a stretch to say it's the worst display I've examined during my time at AnandTech" http: Like I said, the calibration looks weird to me and you can see some PenTile fringe.

My eyes don't bleed looking at it, but it's definitely not my favorite. For others, again quoting AT: I'd wait a couple of months to see what the average Joes of reddit and such say.

Manufacturing defects can often be hidden from review units FWIW my screen has been perfectly fine. I like Anandtech, and I don't like OnePlus much, but even as AP's resident negative nancy, that seems a bit melodramatic to me.

It's not like the screen is unviewable at even slightly off angles or totally worthless in the sun. It's just not very good. AT's opinion is based on actual facts ahead measurements though.

Better than your subjective judgement. And that's fine, I'm just saying his subjective conclusion seems over the top. How would he NOT reach this conclusion though after all the objective measurements showed how bad the display was?

I mean this is the Nexus 6 all over again where only AT has the balls to state the obvious with the screen. There are a lot of people that wouldn't care too much about the display on their phone provided it worked, myself included.

You are a r-tard. AT's reviewer reached this conclusion after multiple objective tests, as opposed to the opinions here who are simply using their eyeballmetric. But I guess it's too difficult for you to actually read the full AT review and you simply looked at the conclusion.

I read most Anandtech reviews in their entirety because of their technical depth, so you're wrong there. Regardless of whatever objective facts were used to draw what you're calling the "conclusion," it's really just a subjective opinion, hence the "for me" part.

So you should have seen all the objective metrics and measurements showing this was one of the worst screens in modern smartphones. Instead of cherry picking one part to imply my comment was wrong.

My comment was referring to the entire review. Brandon saying that he "feels unpleasant" when he looks at the phone is melodramatic, as David said. But since you're talking about the entire review, I'm sure you didn't miss the part where Brandon says people who aren't sticklers for color accuracy probably won't mind the OP3 AND the part where he says the incoming sRGB profile will make the phone an unconditional recommendation.

I dislike OP phones and I don't plan to own one, but I like hyperbole and opinions masquerading as factual even less. All the metrics used in the test shows the screen of the OP3 as one of the worst.

As I said in another comment, after seeing these metrics, you can't reach any other subjective or whatever conclusion. And yes, I got the part where it says that if you are blind, you won't mind the screen.

If they tested the default display mode adaptive mode of a Galaxy S7 or Note 5 right out of the box then they would score just as poorly. They don't test that though. Actually, multiple profiles for multiple standards met.

Adaptive realistically helps most users however you can't deny, it does help in sunlight. Actually most websites would send your comment to moderation with this word and it wouldn't be approved.

The thing about the Anandtech review that irks me is that they are just claiming the display is bad because it's not calibrated to sRGB. Calibration has nothing to do with the actual quality of the display hardware.

You can have a great display that is uncalibrated or a piss poor display that is well calibrated. I think the hardware of the OnePlus display is good, but they just didn't calibrate it to have accurate colors.

But then again, the colors are no worse than the default colors on any Samsung phone. When Anandtech and DisplayMatr say Samsung phones have super accurate displays, people often miss the fine print which says "if you go into display settings and change the mode to basic".

The impact that this has on outdoor usability is very significant, with the display being much harder to use in the sun than the OnePlus 2. Whatever the case may be, the OnePlus 3 still has severe issues with greyscale rendition.

When a smartphone targets Adobe RGB you can at least see the misguided but well-intentioned attempt to give a wider gamut using a color standard that actually is used in some cases, but when NTSC is the target it just shows a severe lack of understanding of modern displays and color standards.

As expected, the OnePlus 3 also regresses here, and beats the OnePlus 2 as the most inaccurate display on the chart. Of all the aspects of a phone to mess up, the display is the absolute worst.

Having owned the phone for a few days, its far and I mean very far from the worst display I've used in the last few years. No, it's not that bad unless you specifically desire a display calibrated to the sRGB standard.

If you like how a Galaxy S7 or Note 5 display looks out of the box color wise in their default adaptive mode, which is also nowhere close to accurate, then you will like how the colors of the OnePlus 3 display look.

If you are someone who sets their Samsung display to basic mode for accurate colors though, then you will hate the OnePlus 3 display. I have a feeling, they're cheaping out on B grade panels effectively I am using the device for couple of days, mostly for reading.

My biggest objections are slightly off white color and dim auto brightness settings. OnePlus X screen on middle auto brightness is brighter than OnePlus 3 on maximum.

Manual maximal brightness on 3 is higher, so such auto setting could be another consequence of 3 Ah battery. Bro i am also a tech person and i have OP3. To be honest, it is not the best display but it is not bad at all.

This is the best phone out there Considering the price. That background behind the phone in the first few pics looks cool. I want that design as a wallpaper now, thanks! This fucking phone could bake cookies and people would still complain about the lack of chocolate chips.

This is what is soooo frustrating about this phone. Put a huge battery in there and then you can use all the ram and have every feature on! The OnePlusOne had an amazing battery, what the hell are they doing now?

It should be a tradeoff for more performance by less battery but in this case, it's less battery for less performance. This is the first time I've been confused about possible internet sarcasm I read the reasoning and I still don't think it's a good reason.

It's still not a bad thing. So if the phone has less ram, that would be better? It should be a tradeoff for more performance but less battery, but in this case, it's less battery for less performance.

They cut all the wrong corners with this. I think they made the best choices with the first gen and have gone down hill from there. I don't need it to be made of metal, but I sure would love it to last 2 days on a charge.

I've had the phone since Saturday and I'm getting really crappy battery life and the display is mediocre. I've seen some reviews praising the display but some things looks like they have fur.

It's nowhere near as crisp as the display on the 6P. Overall I'm enjoying the phone. I can live with the display and dash charging mitigates the crappy battery life.

My point was that some are praising the display and in my opinion there's nothing praiseworthy about it. I'm using the phone the exact same way I use my 6P and both phones are set up the same way.

I'll check for errant apps and wake locks tomorrow because I've already charged the phone. Yep, just not the same kind of awful PenTile subpixel arrangement that ruined PenTile for everyone back around 5 years ago.

They're really not bad, I completely forgot about "PenTile" issues while using my Galaxy Note 5 work phone. Though, my old Nexus S never really bothered me either in terms of PenTile The qHD screens were the quarter HD ones from a while back.

At a resolution below p pentile in the subpixel pattern they were using were atrocious. Modern screens, especially QHD panels really have no issue anymore. The phone literally just came out, the ram management is obviously a software issue that will be addressed in the future OTAs.

Just because it doesn't perform too well atm you put 6gm RAM as a con? They actually said it works as intended and if you don't like it, you should root and modify the values yourself.

You shouldn't have to go around flashing custom ROMs just to be able to use the full hardware of your device. It's a shame OP have also jumped on the slippery-as-fuck bandwagon by dumping the sandstone back.

I must be the only one who hated the backs of OP1 and OP2, glad they finally changed it now feels and looks much nicer for me now. I'm debating if OP3 is better than the Nexus 5x for the value?

Besides the "slight" lag due to 2gb of ram I can't find much at fault even though it's about 9 months old. I have the OPO currently which runs well but the line about slow updates definitely rings true.

What do you think? Is there another Android in the horizon to be the"flagship" killer? It's that 2gb of ram that has stopped me for months now. I'm too worried about how the phone is going to age with only 2gb.

I currently have CM But that has its own issues. Sometimes my data stops working, Android Pay doesn't work. But CM13 won't fix the lackluster battery after 2 years of use.

I need to recharge after work for the evening time. Or is it my phone usage? RyanWhitwam you don't seem like a jerk as a person, I don't get it when you try hard to be very stereotypically "American":

I believe all flagships from and beyond are already fast enough for day to day tasks; so I will not be spending time and efforts on talking about SOC performance.

Following are the Pros and Cons as per my opinion for a phone that is purchased in June Dash Charging - Fastest charging technology at present 2. This alone is enough for me to stick to iPhone as my default device.

I havent noticed parallels for some Apps in Android Drafts, Soulver etc. Which I learnt to use often and liked. I am a fan of some automation apps like Tasker on android which doesnt have an iOS equivalent.

But as of now my use of same is less. I guess iOS is bit more secure compared to android against virus attacks and hacking. I agree my S6 edge is superior in Camera department and pictures look very good.

Also usage of widgets is better in android. But after using both OS since last years, I am sticking with iPhone as my default and S6 edge for miscellany and photos. This is what works for me.

I know others have other reasons to stick to any one OS. They optimise the software, remove bugs and important to plug security issues. Of course Google releases them but only nexus customers get it.

Tell me now how many handsets are going to get Marshmallow and when???? So which is less complicated for the over me who is good with words but not pictures? I had to ask a young person what all those little dots and waves, etc.

I really miss words, but I realize I am alone in that. Is a Samsung any easier to navigate for duhhh… me? If you are over 50 you should definitely stick with Apple 1. So, go with Apple, even an older 16GB model, will still be fully supported, and will work perfectly well, do not get 64GB version, you wont need all that memory.

OP was right about iPhones being easy, I use one because android is hard to use. Why do you think Google is better on iOS than on android. Yes you can have all personalize, but for what?

By the way the output of the sound of the iPhone is really more superior than the output of any Android phone. With an iPhone in music business is way better you can control lights, console really simple with iPhone and all tech for music is much more easy to sync and to handled on an iPhone… Music business in a MAC is much much easier.

IPhone has good sound? Better than any Android? Have you even seen an HTC One phone? Best speakers and any phone! IPhone speaker is tinny garbage. The S6 even has the same placement, but sounds much better.

Cm8 literally got the top phone of, and everyone mention how good the speakers work. I also got first place cuz it was vastly superior to any iPhone. Better software, better design, better screen, etc.

And please specify what Android phone it was. Or you got a cheaper old one. Android high end phones are very stable. Signed, someone who has never used Viper4Android. Many of the rest of Androids can use this superior sound mod.

V4A gives audio processing to match. Not available on iPhones or Windows Phones. Why r u only talking about iphone 6plus, which is much costlier than androide same feature phones, there are some other iphones had launched by apple like iPhone5, 5s,5c i compare this phones whith rs android phones where battery of iphones so worst and camera and no memory slot, nevertheless this iphones have more cost than android phones.

Does this mean that it is designed for dumb people who constantly flip the usb port? Dude, i use both systems and i can point out one thing better that most people usually ignore, my Father is blind, he uses an iPhone because tbh the Voice-over mode for iPhone is the best ive seen and used so far.

Do you know how much tracking, data mining even occurs with an iphone? The iphone is for the general public who doesnt know any better just following ignorantly what is popular culture. Iphone is better for their OS.

I use an iPhone. Everyone I know in business uses an iPhone. Everyone I know that has money, taste and style uses an iPhone. All the successful people I know use an iPhone. Android devices are for the unemployed and vagrants.

It would make me look bad. You are what I like to call a dumb ass like every kid I know. Also, aside from your arrogance making you look bad, you have got to be kidding about BlackBerry. I carried the Z10 now carry the Passport with BB The lack of apps and limited integration with other devices is stifling.

So are you going to cast off your somewhat acceptable friends who carry BlackBerry when their platform becomes Android? They better run out and get an iPhone when that happens so they can still be honored to be deemed worthy of your friendship.

This is the reason why companies are abandoning BlackBerry due to high maintenance costs and instead make private applications for iPhones which you can only download using a special code, a secure application within a secure platform, cheaper to maintain, more convenient for an employee to use.

I completely agree with Bob, Androids are for 12 year olds and vagrants, the paper specs of Androids factually and historically are not an indicator of how they perform.

You guys keep proving how Apple markets to ignorant people with a credit card. That can be a nightmare for testing in house apps. Nothing to do with security. My company uses Android tablets, but all the same kind.

I use an iPhone, but custom built my own PC. What people buy is a matter of taste. People like what they like. Iphone is just for style for big people. I would like to reply to BoB really…..

I have not one but four cars I own my home five college educated children my wife earns more than me I have a desktop Imac Ipad a Ipod beats wireless ear phones and my wife and I use a Samsung Note 5 and I am not unemployed and yes I could have purchased a Iphone had Iphones in the past but prefer the android phone.

Grow up it is a matter of preference stop b n a snub… By the way all my children have either device and yes they are all employed also my BMW can connect to either device……. Jack you are an idiot and a loser!

I have an iphone and I hate it! This article is so immature and stupid. Seriously, apps look better? I can literally break this article point by point. An iPhone 64gb on contract costs almost the same as a carrier free nexus.

I am a galaxy s7 user and the screen quality is maybe 2 generations over the iphone. And about the cables, except the s7, all flagships use USB type c Samsung compensates with wireless charging.

The battery life on a nexus or an s7 edge is way superior than the iPhone. And hangout video quality is as good as facetious. In iphone you can usee iMessage but then to make a video call you need to get out and go to facetime.

I can literally go all day long about this. Just one actual good point about iphone you could have mentioned instead of the trash is that it has a stronger graphic processor that but by a small margin.

Do you feel ashamed that you cannot share media via Bluetooth?? The most basic mode of sharing? Talking about airdrop please use wifi direct once. Basically what this article is saying is: Who needs another messenger?

But sooner or later it will be clear at the end — the open environment will always be above the close one, because it is more close to the people! My GS5 came with headphones that offer the same control options.

A few years ago my wife bought me an iPhone after I discarded my Symbian phone. Anyway I started to use this and found out in dismay that I have to have all products to live. Windows used to crash if I connect my iPhone…….

Then the account with and once you are inside the prisoners you are under arrest until proven innocent. Luckily the Sony Z1 appeared and decided to get one.

In two days I found life with this phone by far easier than that silly apple I was using…….. I just gave to a friend without asking for any cash. I got rid of it at last and never again………..

Super and Easiest 0nl! Visit this link…… See More. My younger son has an iPhone 6 plus. I have 30 days to check it out. My Huawei Android is 16g the iPhone 5s is 16g. I like my sd card for these.

The iOS Is custom built for and iPhone but the android softwares are not built for any particular device or hardware so optimisation is nog as good as in an Apple device.

It not about specs the camera which shas more megapixels cannot alone deliver better pictures, a processor with more cores and greater clock speed can not alone give better performence until it utilises the most of it.

So as Apple builds it products to its own requirements and deliver better products than android phones. Until I switched over to iPhone several months ago after being a dedicated Android user.

I will always be Team Android, hands down. Then I decided I wanted to try something new—FaceTime, great camera, updated social apps like snapchat…you know, the basics.

I just giggle at these articles. My phone is a half decade old S2. So I guess if you plan on propping up a desk buy an Iphone, for everyone else that has work to do either grab a toolkit full of different things or just grab your android phone.

That means less than 1 in 5 smartphone users have an iPhone. It seems to me going with the herd is more of an Android thing than an iOS thing. I think it is more because a lot of iPhone users seem cultic.

I honestly think iPhone is a high quality product. But I really like high end Androids as well. However, I know people who use only Apple products and make little comments here and there about how inferior ALL Androids are.

In that way I think they are like sheep because they have bought into this notion that their are no good Androids and they are operating on a higher plan than non-iPhone users. Probably because in the beginning people lined up outside of stores to get the latest and greatest iphone.

Plus iphones seem to have a higher resale value. I do like how apple updates their devices in a timely manner and no bloatware, etc. I want the screen of a Samsung, build of an HTC with the battery life of my droid turbo, a headphone jack at the bottom of the phone instead of the top and I would be in heaven.

Plus everyone I know say is that a Galaxy? So people in my area associate anything android as a Galaxy. Great marketing by Sammy, but perception becomes reality sometimes.

Yup, it is about the Apple cult and the attitude that you are unwashed and not worthy if you use an Android. The attitude you must be broke, homeless, etc. My Android costs as much as a lower range current iPhone and can do way more.

Here in the US, they have much greater market share, unfortunately. They have a good camera but that is about it. So far all my favourite android apps were not available on ios, plus a lot of apps are a minimum of 10 cent cheaper on gpl than on apple app store.

I also find it totally ridiculous that iphones need to be jailbroken to undergo any form of customization. Plus who wants fast updates at the expense of severe bugs, them slowing down stuff even more and getting a crappy operating system that hasnt changed since 5 years.

Iphones are for people that only use their phones to txt and make calls. Buy what you like, but the points on this website are the worst I have ever seen. I love my android devices. Have I had problems.

But I tinker with it a lot more than her iphone. I transfer files back and forth from a computer a lot easier with my device. I have all my music in google play, but use itunes whole family uses ipods so I just sync up that to google music and playlists as well.

Two points I agree with the author about: Timely updates and bloatware. HTC is bucking the trend to stay afloat by addressing this. Wireless charging is not worth it yet.

I much prefer quick charging and new devices starting to roll out with usb-c. The article and ensuing comments are a joke. This is what The internet has come to now days.

I have every certification and more hours logged on to these then most of you. Now that we have established my far superior ability to actually comment here goes. First of all, the people on this blog and on others like it simply cannot help the fact that more people love iphone than android, period.

Let me be clear I have Windows and android and iOS. The android is perfect for more shady people who want to be power users an anarchists or some how feel like they are breaking the law or the rules.

I currently have an android because I can be one of those more shady people who like to go against the grain. Who wants to spend hours on doing something? They all being said I have an android bc of expandable memory, an IR blaster, and a few other small features.

When Apple steps up the game with these I will switch to Apple. Here is one reason why. What is a smart device? It is an item created to make your life as a human eaiser.

Apple does that by leaps and bounds! The phone thinks of you like a loyal old dog and wants to do nothing more than serve your every whim. I can tell you the iphone holds up better, know why?

Ever had to fix your mom or dads PC? And you think to your self wth are they doing with this thing. We never hear that issue out of iphone. So really is a beast just for that reason alone simply bc the general population can break them by doing stupid stuff.

Windows is better than a Mac ios! Windows is a dos based crap system with a gui created for the average consumer to use a device. What is my point now!! Oh yet MAC IOS is FAR superior at least for anyone who actually knows how to use Linux which by the way was and still is the base os on which all other smart software was and still is created.

So you pretty little Windows fanboy users, please get a grip because until you stop drooling over your poster size photo of Bill gates and actually learn Linux you know nothing about computing.

You also probably know nothing right? Research before you comment. I personally own all apple products, but have and still use the other platforms, They all have their advantages and downfalls.

And although I use a Mac, Ipad and Iphone predominantly I still have moments of frustration when I miss windows, android and linux for one reason or another. Samsung along with android are pure rubbish ….!!!!!!

Apple means Cool……Apple means best and good product in your hand…Apple means…. What most of us care about is specs, you can have a 6gb ram on android and have the snapdragon But when it comes to the games the android will never be smooth as Apple or faster the performance in apple will always be better.

But android will only have a bit better graphics because of its amoled technology. Have you tried removing the stocks app recently? What about file sharing, have you never heard of Android Beam?

Or the fact almost every flagship has a fingerprint scanner now? How do you even have a job? This article made me laugh pretty hard. I just love the reasons they give for the phone being better.

Also, those apps that come with the phone, it depends on what you are getting… Also, you do know apple is making a switch to MicroUSB right? Seems like just in this 1 paragraph I have already made better points than this article.

Anyways, phone-wise, androids are almost always more powerful than an apple phone because of the fact that iPhones are never equip with a good core or a good amount of RAM. They slow down quite quickly and seem obsolete after a few months.

I have had my Moto G3 for awhile and it is still ultra fast and has no technical issues. I like to just plug in and drag and drop files…. I laugh at people who buy these things for the show off appeal as I know they are getting ripped in a rather large way……….

I used android for 7 years this is my first iphone 5s bought two years back From the day i bought this iphone till now regularly i m browsing in website that why iphone is better than android, why iphone is better than android, why iphone is better than android, why iphone is better than android but while using android i m much okay with everything….

It seems obvious to me. The whole usb bit is quite a stretch too. D XD Please use a droid phone before you write an article about it…. XD Droid phones are better: The only good use for iPhones is this now: So we may conclude lots of ……….

I do not care what the name brand is. It could be called Android or robot or Apple or peaches or dog poo. All I care about is having a good phone that can do the most. IPhones are good phones.

You can do more things with Android that you cannot do with IPhone. The That is the truth. And Apple products are a lot more expensive. There are many, many phones, companies, styles to choose from.

They even offer cheaper options that get the job done. They have an SD card slot. That SD card is yours forever. For future phones or other devices. Without having to go through ITunes or anything else.

And I can customize anything I own. One side has a variety of great cars. The other side has one car that is the most expensive. I hate that place. Of course this is after you make an appointment, or in my case last time, two appointments.

My iPhone does not recognize as a drive when I plug it into my PC. It used to, and then stopped. I want to just plug it in and have it be a drive and copy whatever files I like back and forth.

I also have a pretty complex DSLR camera and yet it is still easy as can be to transfer the photos from the memory card onto the computer. A lot of childish responses from android fans here.

I gave the nexus 6p and try for 2 months after my old iPhone broke. Hardware was great, but I found on this android phone the app integration and interoperability to be no where near as good as an iPhone.

Apple is just better when it comes to form and function. Buy an android if you want to tweak it forever and play in a sandbox, buy and iPhone if you need a productive phone. Your comment may not be childish but it is not correct.

Comparable Android phones have far better form and function. Take the iPhone 6s plus verses a Note 5 or s7 Edge. Both these phones are far more productive, can multi-task properly, be fully customized and allow widgets on lock and home screens for speed, convenience and ease of use.

The Note even includes a stylus or pencil. Great compact design, fully featured and greater functionality Android vs Heavy outdated bloated hardware with mid-range specs and limited functionality IOS.

Not to forget the limited compatibility of iPhones and lack of choice! This article is a disgrace, misleading at best. Most of the reasons are just not true or highly debatable. If we had a phone that should meet our requirements.

Requirements means each and every people has different requirements in case of security, memory capacity and so and so. Lightning is better than micro usb?

The major advantage iOS has over Android is that Apple designs the phone and software. Take the Nexus phones for example…they just work like the iphones. I used both and I hate that i have to use itune for everything but it is what it is I guess.

It must run to compete Android OS. Micro-USB usually charges everything from headphones, to power banks, and of course cell phones. Why do people even buy the GB version, not to get apps but to download media like pictures, videos, music, etc.

Sign into the play store with the account that originally bought the content, install it, then sign out. They always have nice designs and I like the simple interface. I have been itching to get an SE with its smaller dimensions I like small phones.

Money is not a problem to me but as much as I really want one I will stick with my Android device. Cause the compatibility of iPhones to Windows pcs are real bad or none.

If this one single point of compatibility would be addressed, the iPhone becoming as compatible as Androids, I would get that iPhone SE in a heartbeat! Clear cache option 8.

For apps and also all the app store apps 9. Google maps instead of the crappy apple maps Multiple users feature Unknown sources option Android sounds better then apple. Apple users are like Yankee fans, Android users are the goth kid outsiders.

And the war rages on. The guy who wrote this sounds to be a one eyes man to me….. He is fond of his iphone and may have seen some android phones, but never used any.

Then he decides to write an article called iPhone vs Android and iPhone wins!!!! Some of these are true but Oh God some are just so, so wrong. Android is wayyy better. You clear all at once or swipe.

It combines like notifications that you can separate. It allows to interact with the notification and app without opening it and its just, way simpler and cleaner. Let me settle this. Are the specs pretty damn similar?

Yes alot of the same features? Yes Nexus gets all the Android ones first like Apple. Actually the 7 is less than the Nexus by about Ice bounced back and forth alot between Android and iOS can I say one is superior to the other?

Absolutely not it all comes down to does it do what I want it to and can I afford it. All good and well people love free stuff but free stuff comes with a price of selling your info to the uncontrollable thirst party.

The same applies to text messages. Have u really owned an android? There are many many more possibilities and helpful apps that came with my galaxy s7 edge and i love it alot!

So many more features and charging is so much faster and the battery life is amazing. Apple has had to recall their product so many times because people died from the battery exploding. And with Apple every 3rd phone they stop making updates for it.

Android always has updates for their products. The iPhone 7 that is coming out is a total ripoff. Apple has never made a crack resistance screen and a waterproof phone. Samsung is simply better.

I completely am for people having their own opinion, that being said I disagree with the title of this article. The examples in the article are all apple examples. The author obviously has no experience with android or windows.

Compared to what android device? If you have a nexus you get updates as they are released just like and iPhone. People will choose what they think is best for them. My issue is with the author, not the opinion.

All the argument were completely based on opinion and not facts. People are going to read this and take it all as fact, instead of doing research and finding the right device for them.

I have both an iPhone 5 and a Galaxy S7. First, no home screen widgets like my calendar and agenda. Sure, you can add something like that to the notifications screen, but that involve swiping, as opposed to right on the home screen.

On an Android, it operates exactly like a computer should and our phones really are computers these days, with folders, subfolders, etc. I wanted to try an iPhone, so I got an old one.

I could not bring a single file to the phone. The iPhone I got did not have any smart way to save battery. The iPhone I got could not play any of my music because a I could not upload it and b I could not install anything that would play ogg files.

The iPhone I got was heavier, thicker and less good looking than my current Sony. If you live in the Apple world, then an iPhone is probably the logical choice. Being as the story indicates Android phones are only good for 2 years that makes them more expensive.

Iphone offers less control, poor resoluion, no expandable memory and not all phones can share the same apps. This is like comparing the Yugo to Prius. Sure the Yugo is cheaper at first, but after a year of so, not so much.

Iphone resale is more, but that will drop due to fewer and fewer users as they get tired of the box of crayons with only black and white as an option. Is this all a big joke?

But iOS, thats another story, Apple manufactures iPhone and developes a OS which works perfectly with that device, which, supposedly, makes it safer. There are a lot of reason to say Android is better than Android, but the main reason is that you can freely add and delete files from it.

But when I connect an iPhone I have sync up files with iTunes. Why the hell people think synchronization is good? But hey, music was still on my iphone, but NO, I need a third party program, which costs money or could be a malware, just to upload my songs again to a new computer.

Of course I have all my CDs, but thats a week lost. Im simply asking you to do like me if you can, just try everything, because if I read this article iPhone is better, iPhone is better, iPhone is better… I have the feeling that not everyone, but many people conform with iPhone.

Just for popularity, for Apple fanaticism, or just because a website is telling you to buy it with superliminal advertising. I actually find that android apps have become much prettier and definitely more modern than iPhone apps at this point.

Twitter, Facebook, all the google apps, as well as plenty of others have better looking designs on Android now than on iPhone thanks in large part to material design! Devices cheaper, but they have similar power with iPhones.

And I can watch anime on it and play Hearthstone all the same time! Check out my cool article with android vs ios, where android is better: I actually like both but there are two things that make me stick with Android phones: I plug the phone to any pc or laptop with Windows and I can access and modify the memory and sd card just like you do with an USB flash drive.

This is for Charles Alden. At least I got that right. None of these arguments accounts for any good reason to buy an iPhone except argument number 1. Android can do these equally or better.

I have been a heavy android user till date until yesterday when I bought iPhone 7 plus. I own an iPad since two years. I am happy with my iPad which I use mainly for games and some handwriting.

Yes I was annoyed from android. It had, due to some reason, a built in issue which I only realized after warranty finished. My faulty s3 obliged me to hate Samsung and android. Then I bought note 4.

It solved all my problems I faced on s3. But still there were some things I did not feel good about. Now after purchasing iPhone 7plus GB I understand the power of google. The three apps Google search, google maps and google drive are enough reason to close down iPhone factory from the face of earth.

Thinking to upgrade from s5. Thought for iPhone 7. My andrioid mobile automatically silents itself when I enter meetings or office. Automatic meeting mode when meeting is scheduled only beeps I can give my mobile to anyone to see coz I have app specific fingerprint.

Only sensitive apps are protected. All other is open. These are not possible with apple except jailbreak. These are just samples. I can write journal what android can do.

Speed is not important with a Ibrick which can not do anything smart. I want my work to be done and my pocket secretary to work according to my requirements. Reason number one, you have an actual file system.

Anyone who has dealt with iOS horrendous file management paradigm appreciates the ease as at which files are accessible in Android. You simply click on Open, navigate to where your files are stored, select, done.

There is also never any reason to use the Share function except when sharing data with the internet. Example, I can stream a film to my TV wirelessly, while compiling an application via a remote terminal, while downloading a 40GB file directly to my NAS drive which is mounted as a local folder, while I convert a media file to.

I have a global search function, which is one of the worst things about iOS, how do you find files. I can customize voice commands, this is perhaps one of the coolest things about about Android.

I have around custom voice commands, mostly for searching files. Mouse support, while connected to a monitor I can use a mouse and a keyboard. Even when not connected to a phone, having access to a mouse is an absolute must when using a tablet as a laptop.

I can customize my entire system to what I want it to be, give it personality, iOS users have been using the same system UI for the last 9 years. I can even open up the same file within multiple apps at the same time.

I never, ever have to create more than one file, I just use the original file, always. I can use Linux under a Chroot, meaning I have a full Debian server running under my phone. I can use my phone as a desktop computer, this one might sound weird but not only is it possible, it works incredibly well.

All of my applications including the ndroid ones are opened up in individual windows, so none of that dual app view non-sense. In which in iOS less than 0. I will never, ever not be able to run the latest version of Android.

When a manufacturer stops updating their phone, no problem, I just install a custom ROM and they work fantastically. My phone is a computer, a real powerhouse, a real smartphone.

Every time I use an iPhone I absolutely hate the experience. I mean even to type a post like this I would have to use a text editor as I would be afraid to loose all of my work as anytime you switch to another app, Safari just resets.

Though what bothers me the most is the lack of multitasking, yes, sure, there are a few apps that can run in the background but they are far and few and none of them are the ones that I need or want to use.

Than there is the file system or I should say lack of, dealing with files IOS is simply a complete nightmare. Not only do I have my remote server directly mounted as a local directory on my phone but my workstation and all of my cloud services as well, all accessible within any app installed.

Yes, my post is huge, but this authors best 15 reasons why the iPhone is a joke. Apple keeps skipping over every feature that we actually want, need.

Horrible inner app communication including the Sharing function in which took Apple 8 years to even release that crap, ugh, the list just goes on and on and …………. This is one of the most biased articles I have ever read on complementing Apple.

I have used Iphone before and it surely not my cup of tea. Listen what I think is that you have written an article telling the blank truth of your mind. One can truly say that iPhone is way more better than android.

I was suckered in buying 2 android devices the samsung galaxy s3 and the nexus 4. I gave it a try because my friends raved about android. They are smart people who generally have great advice and knowledge on technology.

However I found out that their judgement were out of biased hatred toward apple. As for higher resolution our eyes dont even detect the larger resolutions.

I found out the hard way, downloaded apps that just didnt work for my device. Google needs to improve this I dont know if they are better now but man they need to detect the hardware your using and tell you ahead of time before you download and install an app that its compatible with your device!

Its a great idea so called if all your launchers actually look good! Just go with apple, its like saying would you hire great designers for your house and you would just let them have their way in designing the house for you or would you want to design it yourself?

Dont hire cheap designers to design the way your phone looks and works. Why must I non stop have to tweak things on my phone to get save battery or make things work? For instance for whatsapp there was no function built into the app that when I want to send a larger video than that of the given limit on a video it just rejects it.

On iOS whatsapp gives you a little function that u can just cut the video into segments and send them in separate messages? This sounds like it can be something that is on the app level.

I dont know but as for end user experience its just not convenient you need to download another app that will cut videos in segments for you this is retarded. Theres on and on the list goes android and samsung devices are not superior devices.

The features samsung lovers speak of are just gimmicks. Keyboards, widgets, notifications honestly who cares? Especially when widgets just take down performance on your phone?

I just dont see any benefits on android especially the argument went something like this: By the way prices are not cheaper anymore so android fanboys have no actual argument. Like I said I tried android and they are not superior phones both hardware and software.

Aesthetically Android phones are ugly. You now pay a premium price on sub premium products, and they explode. The geometry with the shadows and vibrant colors is beautiful. The app drawer is simple, and you can put the apps you use on your home screen.

Anybody who argues this point has never used them side by side. Even a couple of Macs. For the average user the I Phone is a better choice. They are simple and work well. The hardware and software are proprietary.

In fact the phones are sealed. Comparable Android phones cost a lot less. The Android phones natively work with Google Apps. We use our phones in the business. We use the Google phones and Motorola phones.

They run pure Android without all the carrier bloatware. I like to say Apple invented the smartphone, but Google perfected it. Most people will get along fine with the toaster and microwave.

But, what if you could get the full commercial kitchen for the same price as the toaster and microwave? Everyone has an opinion about which is better. There are very distinct differences between the Android and Apple phones.

Wtf, apps never ever releases on iOS first. It always releases on android first. The only thing iOS beats android in is security and stability. And one thing more, who ever uses FaceTime or iMessage, when we have messenger, Skype ect… And that point when you said that iOS stock apps was the stupidest crap I have ever heard.

First of all it was a shit point, what are you gonna need the looks for? Second is that not everyone thinks it look better, so keep that mind. I have to admit that the design of iOS is pretty nice, but you get quick tired of it.

Terrible article by an obvious fanboy. You are listing many things, like lack of carrier or manufacturer bloatware, reversible charging plug, seamless sharing, etc and saying they are exclusive to Apple.

Try a Nexus, or as of this year, Pixel phone. No bloat, Android as Google intended it. That would be a more fair comparison as those are at least close in the chain to Google, like an iPhone is to Apple.

NFC is the simplest. Just hit share and tap. All but the cheapest Androids have that these days. Anyways, I am convinced you have never used a decent Android, ever. Certainly not one from Google themselves.

I will leave you to tend to your iFlock. Some apps require root access which only advance users should do. Android interface is not as intuitive as iOS. Some android apps hang. If you do it in a lit environment you will get it in first try because the micro USB shape is easy to see 2.

If you are in the dark: And there is a difference between apps looking better and having more features on Apple which are usually hardware based, I just brought this up because no matter who you ask if you compare a Samsung phone with its equivalent iPhone generation, Samsung phones ALWAYS have better displays and MOSTLY have better cameras.

Samsung phones are also very comfortable, for example I am writing this on a Samsung galaxy s7 edge. Finally Samsung has always had earphone controls so either I read it wrong that you said these are things we will miss very much or you are really confused.

Each and every single of these are false. Android is actually better in every single of these areas.
