We have already received the new OnePlus smartphone for testing, and these are our first impressions. I think it might be hit on the newer phones and miss on the old ones. OP5T is on par if not quicker in almost every test.

Price when reviewed

It makes a difference. We welcome discussion-promoting posts that benefit the community, and not the individual. I have a OnePlus 3T and it's the best smartphone I've ever had. One plus one mobile price in india and features Btw, this phone also has a fingerprint sensor which is way more important for me. No headphones included, it's Not water resisted, no OUS, and have same price like s8 which has it all. I just ordered a 5t and the lack of treble support seems like a non-issue imo.

So what if it still has bezels? Like almost any current smartphone, the OnePlus 5T has a built-in battery that can't be replaced without completely disassembling the phone. We will take a closer look at the OnePlus 5T camera in comparison with other flagships, including the qualities of portrait mode and the bokeh effect.

Bigger screen

And its not like I'm an outlier here. No drafts are saved when editing. So what if it still has bezels? After the initial acclimation period, the only things I miss are Android's notifications and split screen.

27.01.2018 - I consider myself an enthusiast and whilst I'd certainly prefer to have treble, it's not a deal breaker for me. Even in the evening, the smartphone is reliably unlocked almost instantly, even when the lighting on the sofa is dimmed. I've read this one too many times around here and since I haven't had an Apple product for seven years I can't tell, why are iOS notifications worse than Android's? So there are many possibilities to satisfy every taste. My 5X's camera was basically inoperable until the April update iirc because it either crashed on launch or just didn't save photos found a workaround by turning HDR because the photo would be evicted from RAM during processing before it was saved.

30.01.2018 - Here are my thoughts: Submit a new post. I just ordered a 5T earlier today and I'm not bothered. Draft saved to this device. The OnePlus 5T is great fun to test.

12.03.2018 - And portrait mode on both phones suck. Charging takes only about half an hour from 0 to 60 percent, after which it takes less time. The revised successor is no faster than the previous flagship. The picture quality of the photos that the OnePlus 5T delivers is quite good. Glad you brought it up. All OnePlus phones have very good specs, pretty decent camera, and a fantastic price. They're small as shit and you're still getting a longer aspect ratio.

Compared to the OnePlus 5, the 5T has only slightly increased in size, 2 millimeters in width and one in length—despite a 0. The weight has increased by 9 grams. The camera protrudes from the housing, but the transition is a bit more fluid than with the OnePlus 5, and the processing of the new OnePlus 5T is excellent and offers no cause for criticism.

The characteristic sandstone surface of the first OnePlus smartphones is long gone, but OnePlus offers fans of the 5T a smartphone case with this rough texture.

There are also sleeves in carbon and wood look as well as a bright red silicone cover that feels very comfortable. Unlike the OnePlus 5 covers, the OnePlus 5T covers all the edges and buttons of your phone, except for the slider, for better protection.

The delivery package includes a transparent cover that does not look like much, but reliably protects the smartphone from damage. The OnePlus 5T's display shows the biggest difference to the previous model.

The diagonal has grown from 5. The standard setting of the display is characterized by very strong colors. The sharpness is fine, but some other top smartphones can do it a bit better.

The OnePlus 5T software offers a whole host of options for customizing the display. Five full picture modes are available in the System Preferences. The Adaptive Mode, in which the display dynamically adapts the display to the external conditions, is highly recommended, , although much paler than the preset mode.

OnePlus now calls the automatic adaptation to particularly bright light Sunlight Display. Reading mode, which is easy on the eyes, can be set for selected apps and the intensity of the night mode can be regulated.

So there are many possibilities to satisfy every taste. The automatic brightness control of the OnePlus 5T is striking. It works well on the whole, but often with a slight delay. The minimum brightness level should also be slightly darker, e.

The OnePlus 5T comes with a new feature, face detection to unlock the phone. This is basically as per usual with Android devices and although special sensors are not on board, OnePlus has apparently optimized the software considerably.

With Advanced Facial Recognition, more than points in the face are recognized and used to allow only the right person access to the smartphone. In the test, face recognition with the OnePlus 5T works excellently and almost lightning-fast.

Even in the evening, the smartphone is reliably unlocked almost instantly, even when the lighting on the sofa is dimmed. Only when it really gets really dark does the front camera and thus the recognition reach its limits.

But the OnePlus 5T doesn't get confused by hats, large headphones or a scarf. Respect OnePlus, good work! If you don't want to unlock your OnePlus 5T with your face, you can alternatively use the fingerprint sensor.

It sits on the back, but works perfectly and quickly. However, the round sensor is only minimally submerged in the housing and thus does not always feel comfortable. It's easier to use a cover in this case.

Whoever thought that OnePlus was delivering the 5T directly with Android 8. An update to a new version is already announced, but without date. The operating system comes, as usual and loved by the fans of OnePlus, as an almost naked Android without bloatware and useless gimmicks.

The look is chic and modern, the Google Assistant is available as language support. However, given the power of the smartphone, this shouldn't be a problem anyway. Read all the details on this here.

The technical platform is identical to the OnePlus 5, which means that the performance of the T-model is also at the same level as its predecessor. Nevertheless, the 5T doesn't have the leap in speed that most new top-of-the-range smartphones have compared to their predecessors.

This is also reflected in the almost identical benchmark results. So anyone who already owns a OnePlus 5 doesn't need to worry: The revised successor is no faster than the previous flagship.

With its mono loudspeaker on the underside, the OnePlus 5T doesn't shatter glass when it comes to sound. The sound is fine, but not outstanding. The smartphone does not come with headphones, so the OnePlus fan has to bring a headset with him.

The OnePlus 5T has three built-in microphones, which are used to suppress ambient noise, among other things. The sharpness of the image should also be slightly better. With the OnePlus 5T, self-portraits are much better in good lighting conditions.

More exciting is the main camera on the back, which has two lenses but is no longer equipped with different focal lengths like the OnePlus 5, but instead the second sensor, a Sony IMXK, is supposed to provide better images in poor light conditions.

The resolution of the low light sensor is 20MP. The camera app looks tidy and at first glance comparatively simple, but also has a Pro mode with manual adjustment options. The picture quality of the photos that the OnePlus 5T delivers is quite good.

Colors are naturally reproduced, even if green tones occasionally have a clear blue tint depending on the incidence of light. The sharpness of the picture is good, but moving objects such as children playing are blurred sometimes.

The overall picture dynamics are pleasing. Even after the optical zoom has disappeared, the camera app of the OnePlus 5T still has its own button for switching between normal and 2x zoom.

But with the 5T, this is a purely digital solution. In poor light conditions, the second sensor represents an improvement over its predecessor, so much is clear. However, the OnePlus 5T can't conjure up magic here either, and that's why you have to live with a lot of noise in low light.

Totally useless pictures have become rarer, however. In the specially created portrait mode, the OnePlus 5T creates a bokeh effect with a blurred background around the object in the photo. This blur effect can look good, but it can also get on your nerves.

In this case, the OnePlus 5T also saves a "normal" photo. However, there is no option to regulate the intensity of the blur as offered by Huawei. We will take a closer look at the OnePlus 5T camera in comparison with other flagships, including the qualities of portrait mode and the bokeh effect.

And portrait mode on both phones suck. The OnePlus is faster than the iPhone X and also it's proven that has better battery life by a really big difference. The screen resolution has something to do with the better battery life performance and I rather have way better battery life that a screen were I will barely talk the difference between a p.

Btw, this phone also has a fingerprint sensor which is way more important for me. So, it depends on your needs. I forgot to talk about the water resistance. If both phones are water resistant, your IP certificated will do shit because iPhones warranty don't include water damages.

So, you're paying a useless certification. If the 5T was water resistant enough to meet IP67 they would have gotten the certificate. There's no reason not to. It may very will be decently resistant, but its almost certainly not as resistant as a 67 device or else they would have certified.

But the OnePlus 5T isn't water resistant. The IP certified isn't for warranty purposes, it's to show that the phone is water resistant in the first place. But it costs and if you want to keep your phone at a minimum price posible you won't pay for that but you could build your phone to be water resistant.

I could build a phone myself to be water resistant but i don't wanna pay for some certificate. It is a HUGE bullet point in advertising. I don't disagree with your overall premise that the 5T is a fantastic value for what it includes, but thought I'd provide some feedback on a few points.

It makes a huge difference in the ability to frame an image the way I want to without compromising on image quality. And its not like I'm an outlier here. One of the most common things I observe other people do when they take photos on their phone is pinch to zoom in.

Especially less techie users who don't understand they're compromising the image quality. I constantly watch my parents and other folks I'm around pinch in to frame their image.

With a phone that automatically and seamlessly switches to the 2X lens and sensor, you get the advantage of framing however you want without compromising nearly as much on image quality. Yeah, I have no idea what you're talking about.

Rear facing portrait mode photos on iPhones are extremely good and have been for quite a while. Calling them a "dumpster fire" is laughable. While the pixel 2 seems to have a bit of an edge taking front facing portrait mode photos, their rear facing portrait performance is very similar.

IIRC, if you're pinching to zoom on the OnePlus 5, it only switches to the secondary camera above a certain zoom level. I was actually considering an iPhone X to replace my 6, but am going to go with the 5T instead.

Yeah, depending on where you value you lies in something it's easy to sacrifice aspects for less money, even if you could reasonably afford the more expensive thing.

I'm exactly in the position you're describing lol. I'm thinking bout changing to the iPhone X from a Note 4. But the 5T is very interesting, especially at that price and the fact that I'm not sure I want to change from android.

That dash charging had the most impact of my way of life though, charging the phone during breakfast instead of plugging it in at night is such a difference. Just came back from the mall where I tried the iPhone X.

Wish I could say the same, I was messing with the iPhone X at the mall, and man I can say it's a gorgeous piece of hardware, but I can't stand iOS still. I'm not sure if I want to leave android though.

But I'm sure I'd be happy either way. I settled on the X because I'm not comfortable with OP, both for their lackluster update history and their occasional privacy concerns.

Receiving one for a Christmas gift the X but have never had a iphone before, went from 5x to this s6 active after 5x crapped out and insurance covered it, and was going to get the OP for myself but can't complain about a gift.

How are you liking it? The hardware is fantastic, feels great in the hand, and faceID works great. I don't miss fingerprints one bit. Software-wise, iOS is iOS. It does some things better than Android, it does other things worse.

After the initial acclimation period, the only things I miss are Android's notifications and split screen. The gesture-based controls on the iPhone feel way, way better than just emulating buttons, though.

Apparently most people get hundreds of emails, texts, missed calls and social media notifications everyday that necessitate grouping them into several different categories.

That is good to hear thanks, I was a little worried since I've never messed around with any iOS, but we got drunk one night and he spilled the beans on what he bought. It will take some getting used too but you put my mind at rest.

I am looking at both of them, funnily enough. I'm currently using a oneplus one which has done no wrong in the past 3. And the iphone x and 5t tick those boxes. So you're OP is still running smoothly after 3.

Makes me happy I just ordered a 5t because I just want a phone that will run well for a long time. Then again it is half the price too. It was an absolute shitshow on my friend's 6 plus, but I've had 0 issues on my X.

I think it might be hit on the newer phones and miss on the old ones. Screen on time is down to like 45 minutes too. Battery was fine on the 6 plus, never heard any complaints. It mostly just became extremely sluggish.

The new phones have an insane amount of power, the X should not lose to the 5T. It's a miss on all of them. Not to discredit others experience, but just throwing mine in the ring.

I have no slowdowns, no battery loss, none of that. It actually made my iPhone run better than ever and made me decide to stick with it for another year instead of getting a new phone this year.

How's the 6 plus? They are getting cheaper on eBay and I've always wanted one. Desperately need a modern phone. Only thing decent about it is the camera, which holds up surprisingly well.

I have to constantly charge it. Also, she had a similar thing with her previous 5S. Very shit and unpredictable battery life. I fixed it for her by ordering a battery replacement. No problems with battery happened since then before she switched for other reasons.

So just get a battery replacement. Yeah I was thinking this would solve it but then again I'm so fucking tired of IOS I really don't give a shit anymore. I'm getting a new phone anyway from work but haven't decided what to get yet.

Work is paying so the money isn't the issue. I was going to get the s8 or v30 actually but then I heard Samsung are coming out with the new s9 sometime soon. And LG isn't known for releasing fast updates and also the v30 isn't released here Sweden.

If you wanna get an older iPhone to try it, get the 6S Plus instead. I cannot recommend the regular 6 in The 6S was probably the best S-level iPhone upgrade, doubling the RAM, adding a much faster TouchID sensor, among other things, and it's gonna be my first 3 year phone.

Just saying that if you get the 6, you're gonna have a bad first impression of iPhone. There's such a big step between those phones. How did apple get away with a gb on a flagship idk. It ran great on my 6.

But iOS 11 is pretty shitty in comparison. My X runs it pretty good though. With the X more than ever a lot of people are thinking that they kinda want it since it's the new iPhone but they don't love all the changes and price and they're increasingly open to alternatives.

You can find these people all over comment sections, Twitter, and probably in your social circles if you ask who's getting an iPhone X. It needs a few software adjustments because pulling down control center adjustments from the top was a dumb move, but other than that I love the hardware itself.

I'm switching jobs and getting a new work phone. I think to a degree it is worth a comparison although not the most logical one. Here are my thoughts:. Someone wants to upgrade their iPhone this year but not sure if the X is worth it.

If not, then the 8 is good enough. Maybe someone is looking at a flagship phone, but not particularly committed to either platform. Or otherwise they've been committed but is getting fed up with whichever side they have been using and is ready to jump ship.

OP5T is also unlocked and not on any carriers one reason for the lower price. Yes, software support is the only thing I wish android phones manufacturers could learn from Apple I was once happy with Nexus phones, but these Pixels are just too expensive!

I mean, it took apple 8 months before they finally got iOS10 to be stable and bug-less anyway, so they aren't really much better than android now. Although software updates are late with android, atleast you don't get to receive half baked os.

I'd absolutely take not-so-outdated stable OS over shitty half-assed beta software anytime because after all, stability is my main concern. That's why my iPad and iPhone is still on iOS

Now that Samsung has taken the covers off its flagship, the Galaxy S9, we compare it to the mid-range marvel that is the OnePlus 5T so you can decide. Samsung. Face unlock: who does it best? iPhone X vs Samsung Galaxy Note 8, OnePlus 5T. Posted: 23 Jan, And for what it's worth, I own a Note 8. CHINESE PHONE MAKER OnePlus officially unveiled the 5T this week, it's latest mid-range smartphone that takes on the likes of the iPhone X with its flagship.

When this test is completed, we will link it here.

Like almost any current smartphone, the OnePlus 5T has a built-in battery that can't be replaced without completely disassembling the phone. This is regrettable from an ecological and economic point of view, but it is unavoidable at the moment for stylish, slim enclosures.

The battery has a capacity of 3, mAh and thus always lasts for a good day and a half. Two days are also possible if you pay a little attention to consumption and don't play around with the OnePlus 5T too much.

Charging takes only about half an hour from 0 to 60 percent, after which it takes less time. But in 90 minutes the battery will be back to percent. The bottom line is that the OnePlus 5T can absolutely keep up with its competitors in the upper class when it comes to battery life.

The OnePlus 5T is great fun to test. The display is very attractive, the Unlocking by face recognition is a practical addition and functions flawlessly. The performance and features are beyond all doubt - this was already the case with the OnePlus 5 without the extra "T".

It's a pity that the OnePlus 5T is not shipped with Android 8. The battery is long lasting and the camera takes better pictures than its predecessor. For an upgrade from the OnePlus 5, the advantages are too few to justify a new purchase.

All others who are looking for a strong and successful smartphone should have the OnePlus 5T on their list. I have a OnePlus 3T and it's the best smartphone I've ever had. Will probably keep going with OnePlus in the future too.

All OnePlus phones have very good specs, pretty decent camera, and a fantastic price. They sure are a bit slower or less powerful than the Pixels or iPhone X, but for the price they always are a bargain.

As I have said in another article on here, why do you give One Plus such rave reviews when you know they are secretly harvesting innocent loyal customers's sensitive data. Did they patch the insecure root path found recently?

Did they turn off all their secret personal data collection. Is there any reason to trust their business practices or engineering after all the gaffes in each release? Glad you brought it up.

For those interested, here is a link to a security article. I'm new, so add the https back to beginning of link. As it happens, secret personal data collection is still an issue, as we found a "new" discreet data harvesting app on our review model: At least it won't have the "jelly" screen problem, of the left over 3T screens used on the 5, resulting in them having to be installed upside down, because of the dual camera location.

OnePlus 5T launch event livestream OnePlus 5 review: OnePlus 5T release date and price The OnePlus 5T is new, but in terms of price, things stay roughly the same with just a slight hike.

OnePlus 5T design and build quality The OnePlus 5T looks very familiar from behind at first glance - clearly, the appearance has only been slightly changed compared to its predecessor.

The rear of the OnePlus 5T offers space for the camera and the fingerprint sensor. OnePlus offers many different covers for the 5T. The 5T's display is larger and longer than the OnePlus 5.

OnePlus offers many options to customize the display. The front camera works extraordinarily fast in face recognition. OxygenOS is tidy and free of Bloatware. OnePlus 5T audio With its mono loudspeaker on the underside, the OnePlus 5T doesn't shatter glass when it comes to sound.

So what if it's not a Quad HD screen? You'd never notice and if you somehow did you'd get over it in a matter of seconds. So what if it still has bezels? They're small as shit and you're still getting a longer aspect ratio.

And so what if it's not water resistant? A bunch of videos have proven the OnePlus 5 to have been water resistant when it had no official rating. Really if you drop your phone in a toilet or forget to take it out of your swim trunks' pocket when jumping into a pool, that's on you.

And, you didn't mention this but it's another feature of the Note 8 and iPhones, do you really want or need a secondary telephoto lens? How many times in your life have you really needed x2 zoom?

And do you really want the ability to take mediocre portrait photos? Because unless you got a Pixel 2, your portrait photos are going to be a dumpster fire. It has great hardware and great software, that's why it's compared to the Note 8 and the iPhones.

It is in no way a "mid-range tech phone," it just costs a little more than what it takes to make it, not three or four times that amount. But since I also habitually play with a canon 6D, you can take my photo opinions as advice from an addict.

And portrait mode on both phones suck. The OnePlus is faster than the iPhone X and also it's proven that has better battery life by a really big difference. The screen resolution has something to do with the better battery life performance and I rather have way better battery life that a screen were I will barely talk the difference between a p.
