Keep an eye on your battery and temperature if you do do it though. My phone got super hot and the battery went from full to completely flat in 2 hours sitting in my pocket.

Was hoping by now a non root or preferably if it was enabled by software update As per previous models. Ya, I got that as well. This is what I did to get it back to Celsius: Anyone else got very very faint light bleed around the edges?

I've had light bleed on every LG phone I've ever had. Just found the link below if anyone else is having the moisture in usb port issue, seems to have worked for me for now at least.

If you stare long enough at a bright screen with a dark edge, waiting for it to happen, it will happen. Just found the link below if anyone else is having the moisture in usb port issue,. I believe it is, but don't seem to be many here having the issue.

Mine started with the latest update. Mine also started but I had some fluff in the port. So I used a bit of plastic from packaging and carefully got the fluff out then washed it Ikr and dried it just didn't plug anything in for 1 hour and it's been working fine now.

Is there any planned support maybe in Oreo for better use of the I seem to recall seeing on a pixel 2 screenshot for example that the navigation bar at the bottom went transparent in some apps e.

Not sure if that was just a render though Just annoys me that the bar is always there for me, seems to be a bit of a waste of screen real estate, and not needed in some apps! Any word on when Oreo is likely to drop?

I've got an international model from QdAu. Can't wait to get rid of these fat blob emoji's. Who did you get it from? I'm getting no response from dwi-digital-cameras ebay store. No reply to the 2 emails I've already sent.

However, when I read in the phone specs it said that the 'network branding is 'Telstra'? Does this mean that the phone has to used with Telstra network or it won't work?

But it should just mean that it has Telstra logo on the back, and whatever Telstra crapware they install on their phones, and will work with anything. Pretty sure I've never seen a network locked Android phone, aside from their own branded phones.

Eg, the Telstra 4gx or whatever it is. As well as the above, it also means that updates have to be tested and approved by Telstra first, meaning you'll receive them sometime after unbranded models.

I duno about that cause the G6 is not on VolTE supported phone list? Can anyone confirm that? I've been using the Google camera today, version 5. I still don't see what all the fuss is about.

The difference is not night and day and you loose the wide camera. Yes, the Google camera does take better shots, but you really have to look for the difference. The big bonus is that the front facing camera no longer makes everything look like a water painting.

I had more of a play around tonight. Google cam pics are sharper and less 'watercolour painting effect'. Some photos actually came out worse, but that could be a bug. The pictures that worked looked better, but not enough to justify loosing the second cam.

The Google camera is also much slower at opening. Hahaha, I think the front facing camera needs all the help it can get if it genuinely wants to take great shots: I'm still really disappointed with the G6 battery life.

I was holding out for Oreo, hoping it would bring some sanity to what must be a runaway process, but no announcement yet. Any tips or tricks? I have auto brightness on, use the screen for maybe an hour a day, and the battery can't even last me a full work day.

This can't be normal. It could be as simple as one app messing up. I once had to uninstall all apps on my wife's Samsung S5 and then gradually reinstall to find which app was ruining her digi life.

It was a free game, totally unnecessary of course My battery is fantastic — on light use can easily make it through a second day. GPS Apps and hotspot seem to use the most battery which I would expect but I have to hammer it for a long, long time to get the sort of experience you are describing.

Mine is great also. Wifi, bt, location services and AOD always on. I'm pretty busy at work though, so i don't play much during the day. First I got the "Moisture detected in charging port" G6 bug which appears to be fairly common.

Phone was about 3 weeks old. Then I pulled out my trusty Nexus 5x to use in the meantime. I purchased it about 18 months ago from a store in Hong Kong. Over the last few weeks, my phone has begun to occasionally either lock up or lag to the point where anything I press takes seconds to register.

Now today, it just constantly disconnects and re-connects when charging keeps either vibrating or making the connection sound. Has anyone had either of these issues with their G6? As far as charging, are you getting the problem with a non LG cable or power brick?

The port is really fickle to any power source that's not consistent in any way. If I was considering a G6 at the moment, are there are any really strong contenders that I should look at as well?

They have the G6 too. Wife has G6 and it is great, I'm about to buy the U Film some basic video for my job and like the audio recording on HTC. Both feel super smooth which is what drew me away from the Samsungs.

I got the moisture in usb port pop up out of the blue yesterday while the phone was sitting on my desk. I used a bit of compressed air to blow it out and it still charges ok thankfully.

The link Mick provided did clear the pop up but it still comes back for a few minutes every few hours. I prefer phones with SD expansion and the more vanilla the android OS, the better OnePlus 5 or 5T is quite compelling, you'll get your Vanilla Android, Snapdragon processor and it has a headphone jack.

LG G6 has the older Snapdragon processor from last year. But performance wise there's no difference and it'll hold up for at least the next 2 years. I have wrestled with all 3 devices in my head for some time now.

Just bit the bullet and bought the U11 off amaysim today. As you say the older processor on the g6 is not noticeable in normal use. Today I was out fishing on a jetty when my 3 year old managed to knock my G6 into the water.

It fell into about 3 metres of water for about 10 minutes before I was able to fish it out hanks to a nice guy that lent me his goggles. Phone was completely unharmed just displayed that moisture in USB port warning for a few hours while it dried and now is happly fast charging.

Anyone have problem with bluetooth car connection? It said connected I can use the dial on my car to start it but the voice will not go through the car speaker. Connects everytime automatically and calls come through loud and clear.

Never had people on the other end of the call complain about quality either. Might be a car thing? Have you tried a different phone on the car maybe to eliminate the car as the issue.

Check to see if your g6 connects well to other Bluetooth devices like speakers or a hands free kit. I have the original charger but actually used it only twice right at the start.

There seems to be two different versions of the wide angle lens modules used in the LG G6 — one with far worse quality than the other. I've noticed this myself, and I have the 2.

All of my wide angle shots are noticeably blurry, especially around the edges. I think this coupled with the unacceptably slow updates is enough for me to avoid LG phones in the future.

Will miss my Note 5, though was wanting to try something a bit different, as the Galaxy S8 didn't really appeal to me. I disabled media connect is because it auto play music for me when I changed to bluetooth in my car.

I'm getting conflicting reports. Is the front screen gorilla Glass 3 or 5? That back glass on the camera is super scratch prone.. I've got a case on the phone and it still has scratches all over it.

I don't recall my older phones getting scratches on the camera glass Nexus 6P. My mate recently got three S8's from Telstra. After playing around with it, I turned it down. Whilst the S8 feels snappier and smoother, and the UI is much nicer, Never thought I'd say that about TW, I hate the wrap around screen and fingerprint sensor location.

I was considering getting the S8 or the Pixel XL on that plan, good deal if you don't mind contracts. That would have been a good deal, though I know what you mean. I am also not a fan of the curved display or the fingerprint sensor placement.

The design of the LG G6 feels more practical to me, and whilst the LG software doesn't look as good as TouchWiz, it appears to take better advantage of the longer screen e. To be honest even using my mates Note8 I felt it was a bit laggier in places.

Just the dropped frame effect made me roll my eyes — like you pay double what I paid for the wife's g6 and you still have a camera app that opens a bit slow and sometimes stutters when you open the app drawer.

Bluetooth is extremely frustrating. It's become so ubiquitous in everything mobile yet is incredibly unreliable years after it first hit the market. Which is why I insist on a headphone jack!

My wife and I both have G6's. When I first tried to pair mine to our Hyundai, it would not connect no matter what I tried. Walked away frustrated, came back 30 minutes later and connected first go.

Exactly the same experience with my wife's G6. I couldn't tell you what works and what doesn't. Bluetooth is incredibly frustrating sometimes. I have them on two G6's, to prevent scratches or shattering.

They don't affect the lens or photo quality at all. Received my mobile today and it came fitted with a screen protector not the film most new mobiles have. Have ordered a tempered glass screen protector, presume this would be better?

Yes tempered glass is better especially the totally flat surface on the G6, unlike the Samsung Sx series. I do keep my phones in my pocket with nothing else and take generally good care of my phones though.

I like using tempered glass screen protectors. You still get the same feel of a glass screen, and when it gets scratched up over time you can remove and replace and get the brand new screen feeling again.

Haven't used screen protectors or those plastic condom protectors for year. Such a gorgeous phone why would i want to cover it up. Has anyone else had issues with Google Assistant not recognising the microphone?

Feel like I have tried everything to get it working. Checked Google app permissions, tried enabling option though it can't hear me during the training step. True, the Samsung one looks like a normal screen protector so I will install the tempered glass one.

I usually don't bother, never even had a case with my Note 5, though in hindsight it would have looked a bit more presentable if I had both of these installed. Anything more than unfounded speculation about when we might see Oreo?

What program you guys use to backup to computer? Don't want to backup to Google drive. Isn't there an LG suite which can back up to PC? Also, what's your objection to using Google drive? Dropbox for photos, Evernote for notes, Pocketcasts to sync podcasts.

Haven't backed up a mobile to a computer via USB for years. How is the G6 on battery life, are most people making it thru a day without charging? I'm trying to pick between this and the HTC U Ultra for my wife, once you take price and design out of the equation I think all that is really left is this has the nicer camera, and battery life maybe?

Very much depends on your usage. Relied on the eyes of the younger and hopefully trustworthy worker. That was when they said they would change the port, as they had not come across the problem before.

My wife picked up the phone, so never got to see anything after the initial diagnosis. It seems to be luck of the draw if you get one with good battery life or not. I took over my wife's g6 qdau hds the battery life is poor — average.

Have tried factory resets, removing Every. I'm moderately competent on the software side of things and it doetst seem like it's app or setting related, it might be something to do with SOC or component variants.

I just hope that the mythical Oreo update will improve things. There are also plenty of people out there who can get hrs SOT without really trying so you just have to hope you get one of those.

I think I'll be taking my phone back to Harvey Norman to get assessed tomorrow. I've had massive freezing issues for weeks, and even after multiple factory resets and running minimal apps, it seems to be getting worse.

I can feel it overheating in my pocket when it's not even in use, and it's hot to touch even through the case. It's gotten to the point where it constantly locks up for minutes at a time possibly thermal throttling from overheating and is completely unresponsive to any button presses software and hardware.

My first LG phone and it's stuffed within 6 months. It happens with all products — good idea to send it back. In general — The G6 is a great value phone.

I'm selling it now since I got a Pixel 2 and I'm wondering about a receipt for warranty. It's probably not transferable right? I'm struggling to find an actual receipt apart from the PayPal summary I was emailed afterwards.

Do they usually send a separate receipt like eGlobal do? Recently purchased a set of Sennheiser Momentum headphones. Combined with the quad DAC of the G6, it sounds amazing! Anyone else's camera now useless because of how scratched the rear glass gets?

My phone has a cover, so no idea how it got so bad. Comparing it to my wife's G6, my pics look shite. Heaps of flare around light sources and a bit cloudy looking on most pics.

My mates GS8 is nowhere near as bad, and we are both in construction, so they would get similar treatment. Anyone else's camera now useless because of how scratched the rear glass gets.

The coating on the lens ends up appearing scratched and normally a polish will make it good as new, worked for me I used jewellers rouge. Maybe your friend used it in other circumstances where this corrosive dust didn't get on it Did LG use normal glass as the lens cover, and GG5 for the back glass?

I really want to keep my G6 waterproof and this is the only way you can guarantee it. The glass backs off Ebay are not genuine LG no matter what they claim. One thing I'm wondering — the USB-C cable it uses for charging, is there a particular cable type you need to get to take advantage of the fast charge?

Or will any old USB-C cable do? Any type-C cable should do the job, but it's recommended to get one that has all the pins, I would stay away from cheap ones though.

One of my Xiaomi USB-C converter stopped working last night and lucky didn't cause any problem to the phone. Anybody have some issue with Bluetooth connection? Sometime it will disconnect and reconnect, happened to my car, my headset connection.

I heard that cheap USB-C cable can damage your device. I've been using a cheap and nasty eBay desktop charger every night since basically Day 1 and my phone is just fine.

I would be careful — as cheap USB-C cables may not have the requisite fail safe resistors which can prevent phone damage. They have certainly had some good runs on the board this year, with the G6 and the V30 and to a much smaller extent, the Q6.

Does anyone know if I can unlock the bootloader on my hds, and if it's reasonably supported by the custom roms available? They definitely produced some good hardware this year, but unfortunately the G6 has not been selling well.

Google "LG G6 sales" and you will find a plethora of articles saying they haven't met sales targets and haven't been able to compete with the S8 and Pixel 2. Hopefully they continue their path upwards.

I can only say good things about the G6. I had the G3 which I used for 2. Now on the G6, I couldn't be happier. Hopefully they come back with a 5. But how to be sure?

Even if cheap brand X was okay for Fred last month, perhaps it's different this month. Or has the era of terrah of faulty adapters with known brand labels e. Anker destroying equipment come to an end but I would have expected something from OnePlus to be OK, but, c.

Only use what doesn't destroy. How could it sell well when it was dollars yet with last year's processor? Then it became so cheap that people started to doubt its quality and its worth from to dollars.

The V30 has a tonne of issues with its display. I personally had to return 4 FOUR of them due to faulty screens — white line in the centre of the screen or light bleed on one side or all sides of the screen.

I won't even mention the blue tint issue. LG should have kept the G6 design and put a better processor in it and work on the camera processing software to fix the white balance issues and provide a functional front facing camera.

That's all they had to do to make a great phone. And then keep perfecting that like apple does. The G6 design was the most premium out there — better than the S8 and iphone X. Maybe replace that plasticky fingerprint sensor with a nonmoving glass one.

The last great phone they made was the G2. G3 was the first QHD gimmick phone and it was laggy as hell. G4 had bootloop issues and a dodgy processor, no fingerprint sensor and bad materials. V10 was huge and had the same dodgy processors plus cheap materials.

G5 a complete failure — horrible design and build quality plus battery life. G6 last year's processor, camera issues especially the front facing one — completely useless in low light. V30 — bad screen, same camera issues.

Which means no one at LG is actually using LG phones or these headphones. I highly doubt that even the company managers, CEOs etc. What else is there to be said?!

I just wish someone else would use that wide angle camera cause that's the only real good side of the G6. The design is already killed since the V30 looks totally different. It's more like a characteristic of the display, not a fault like the white line running in the middle of the screen.

Any news on when the G6 is getting the Oreo update? LG were so fast to deliver Nougat on the G5 last year, but seems really slow this year: Not good enough for a flagship phone bought outright that shouldn't be subject to any carrier holdups.

Wonder why AU's DS doesn't get any updates? I am also now getting the dreaded moisture detected issue.. BTW tried a format and reset, didnt help And, on another topic, does anyone know how and where the notes on photos that you can make with the 'memo' function are stored?

It does not appear to be in the comment field of the. For my purposes, I don't think I need a dual sim and don't have the headphones to take advantage of quad dac, and there's a micro-SD slot to expand the memory, so 64 vs 32 GB is moot, no?

Is there any reason to get the HDS model if the pros that I can see don't really apply to me? Am I missing anything? I can't seem to find any other differences. I still on't get all the fuss about Gcam.

When the app isn't crashing, it is only a beez dick better than the stock camera app at HDR. Portrait mode is a bonus, but all while you loose the wide camera.

I think all domestic stock supports wireless charging. The HDS also does. Can't comment on vowifi, but I have a feeling if a variant supports VoLTE, it would also support vowifi.

I don't believe that's actually the case unfortunately — it's one of the main reasons why I haven't upgraded from my G3. Actually I think you are correct.

No wireless charging for domestic models, but it is available on American models. LG's regional variations are a big disservice to the phone and consumers — it's simply too confusing and presumes consumers like being locked out from certain features.

Lately my phone won't screen time out no matter in lock screen or not. I have to press the button to do it but not all the time. Oreo update by June? All this makes me want to go back to Google phones for prompt updates.

I got the moisture-in-USB and charging-blocked errors overnight. Restarted the phone, still had the problem. Had another weird notification bouncing every two seconds and didn't display long enough to read it.

Plugged it into the phone while off. Within a minute it displayed a charging-slowly message. That's ok, I always charge overnight anyway. That's all I've ever used from day one and I've never had any problems whatsoever, even after complete immersion in a pool.

Anyone found a decent wallet-style case? The cheap one I got on ebay isn't cut out enough around the wide-angle lens or the fingerprint reader. The cheap one I got on ebay Which one did you get? I got this one: One thing I don't like about this case is that it only holds one card, maybe maximum two if you squash them.

There's nowhere to store a bit of cash. The cut outs for the camera and fingerprint reader are sufficient though. Heh, fair enough — was just hoping someone could recommend one that definitely works rather than just throwing my money into the wind again.

I bought this one. I don't have this Spigen case which might suit you https: Looks like there's a Google camera mod for the wide angle camera! I installed the wide angle one and had a bit of a play, seemed good!

I used the older versions of the G Camera app on the G6, but I remember you had to fiddle with so many settings and processing options. I didn't appear to have to do that for this wide angle mod?

Just install and use it with zero config? Seems to be the case. I installed both on my V20 and expected to have to configure as per the linked page but I can't see it in the settings. Ah nice, that's even better.

Any ideas what these are? Thx Hman for the heads up. Looking at your user number I didn't even know what it was, so I've been checking for updates since your post.

It happened a moment ago. I hope you're enjoying the phone and quad DAC as much as me! There is discussion about this in the comment pages under the download links. So far I've only taken some bright daylight shots with my V20 and comparing to stock, I'm seeing a mainly a stronger HDR effect.

But I think low light and night shots will be a more significant test.. Mine found the update. But came back with invalid software package after the download. Glad to finally have an update on the AU-delivered phones, but the WiFi security update was September.

For those on Taiwan handsets, you have had two updates in this time. We were still on July release firmware. For those of you using the wide angle GCam mod posted in the last page, have you n noticed purple tinges in the photo when taking lower light pics?

I noticed this yesterday when mucking around with it in low light conditions. Yep, same here on my V20 with the wide angle app. Installed 2 of the earlier versions of the app and still has the purple tinge..

So, I've given up on the GCam for wide angle. Did you buy this version? I got update V11i last night. Was hoping for Oreo! Back in August when Oreo was first released, I predicted we would get the update by November.

How wrong I was! I really can't see it getting released for the G6 until atleast April now and I wouldnt be surprised if it's as late as June. Pretty disappointing as that will make LG the last major phone manufacturer to release Oreo for their top tier device s.

Let me know if anyone wants a copy of the receipt. My initial impressions are good. The phone feels nice in the hand. The screen is brilliant compared to my old phone however i've noticed the performance is a bit jittery with scrolling etc.

I'll play more and change the transition timings in developer options shortly. The 2 year warranty seals the deal, after problems with other brands including Moto Z. Yeah agreed 2 year warranty.

The phone its replacing not directly, long story is a LG Nexus 5X. I am already thinking about unlocking the boot loader and throwing on LineageOS kinda default the purpose of the 2 year warranty but we'll see how i get on with 7.

Anytime you unlock a bootloader the vendors use it as an excuse even though most phones snapdragons are pretty much impossible to brick. Yeah pretty much Then I wouldn't do it as I need the warranty coverage cover for any hardware or battery issues.

Enough negative experiences to appreciate the value of 2 yr warranty! So anything else i should know about with this phone? Anyone tried LineageOS on this? I don't think the DS has an unlocked bootloader unfortunately.

It looks like you are right. I am not overly concerned. Oh well i'll just live with stock. I'm intermittently getting the moisture in charge port warning. Restarting the phone seems to get rid of it for a while.

Is there a more permanent fix? I wish I got the rootable version. Then at least I'm sure I'd be able to edit some files to make the warning go away. Use a torch to check if there is any fluff in the port.

Mine had fluff in there and I had to use a small bit of plastic to dig it out. Does anyone else think battery life is much improved since the latest update? No but TBH the battery life was quite good already to start with so I haven't noticed any discernible difference.

It's a very rare day that I need to be concerned with charging more than overnight. Hey guys — anyone has an issue where wifi cannot be turned on? Just got a G6 today and it says "connection not allowed" in settings.

The message changes to "connection available" when you toggle it on. Very weird if you simply can't turn it on It can't be toggled on. Doing a google search, it looks like a few people have gotten this issue but not sure what the fix is.

I suspect its getting the phone replaced. This mentions that the phone's hotspot still works, suggesting the wifi hardware is OK. Does your phone's hotspot work? Toggling on is one thing, but can another device connect to the 'net through your phone's hotspot?

The hotspot doesn't seem to work either. It appears to turn on but after about 5 seconds, it automatically toggles off.. Bought this and it arrived today. First impressions are decent — the cutout is indeed perfect.

The front flap is quite slim — don't buy this if you're going to try to cram more than 3 cards in it. Warning, LG does not seem to have any concept of customer care, I have been struggling with LG for over a week to replace a faulty battery supplied from LG spares.

Won't return calls, does not want to sort it out. The G5 is modular, it has a button on the case and you pop the bottom off, spare batteries are an accessory. Rather than looking like a capital B it now looks like a lower case b or P They are saying that I can return it.

But LG will not regard this as a warranty repair. Has anyone else had this problem or have any good ideas! I would be inclined to return and get a new phone. You could also buy a new SIM tray from aliexpress.

Considering that this is the G6 thread and the poster never specified which phone they were talking about, that's a pretty safe assumption to make. I thought so, but no harm done: Why the G6 Trumps the S8 edge.

Hes not so much for the yo market, but if you enjoy factual well thought out arguments these two authors make somebody like Linus look silly and ADHD. And as he says, people are for some reason auto besting galaxy as of late, without thinking about it.

I am really happy with the phone and love the wide angle. I am surprised other manufacturers don't have it. Interested to see what's up next from LG. Certainly feels that way with the S Samsung has definitely become Apple-esque lately, especially with the S7 and the S9.

Sorry if OT — https: It's just a prototype. I don't think they'll keep it. Unless they're stupid and they ignore all the negative feedback for this and other handsets with notches. Got my G6 through work last week and set it up over the weekend.

Came from a G4 with a G3 before that and a Nexus 4 before that. The step up from the G4 is very noticeable as you'd expect. Made setup and data migration so much easier. Also nice to finally have a phone which can stream Bluetooth and WiFi at the same time.

I'm going to miss the removable battery as I had 2 for the G4 which was nice and getting used to the new aspect ratio is interesting. The inbuilt speaker is fairly rubbish though and poorly located compared to the G4.

Also the SD card slot is a lot more fiddly now as I like to sync the SD card and my laptop with a reader as it's quicker and easier to manage folders and files that way. Probably the biggest miss.

But the plusses well outweigh that. SD card is fiddly. Thankfully not something I need to do very much but again something the Passport made infinitely easier think I'm missing the Passport a bit: Couldn't wait any longer for Oreo, and was able to grab a sweet deal on the Pixel 2 XL.

So good to be back on vanilla android. So so smooth in comparison. Only thing I will miss about the G6 is the wide angle lens, that thing is so good. So much more useful than a portrait lens!

More manufacturers need to do wide angle lenses. I did too, back in December and just the regular Pixel 2 non-XL on the Telstra friends and family deal. Going from the 6P to the G6, just never felt it was as smooth and had to factory reset regularly to keep it from locking up all the time.

Not good enough from a flagship phone. I held on to my G6 though as it was a free warranty replacement for my 6P anyway, and now use it strictly as a portable music player. I definitely miss the headphone jack on the Pixel 2, especially after being spoilt by the quad DAC.

The G6 is a solid phone, especially for the price you can pick them up for now. I just wish LG supported their products better. Officeworks has similar, happy if it works but it doesn't specify OTG designed more for Mac laptop I think?

The phone has great hardware, just no software support: Also no unlocked bootloader on the dual SIM variant. I found a solid hit re the G6 and recommendation for this one.

Will see how it goes I have just got this phone and really annoyed me that you couldnt hide the nav bottons on the bottom, quick google got me to here https: The G6 will be last LG phone I buy for a long, long time.

Update cadence is horrible. Hardware generally good, but coming from HTC the inbuilt sound is horrible. Had some flaky moments with Bluetooth requiring a reboot. No idea where to after this.

HTC has killed one of the two things it had going for it — the proper stereo Boomsound front-facing speakers. Hate Samsung with a passion. Like many, it might end up being the Pixel for me or possibly the Razer phone.

Its so convenient for me. But the front camera on this G6 is terrible. Why on earth they chose to lower the quality i have no idea. I bought without even looking because you just assume the next flagship for the brand would have improved specs.

Oppo are notoriously bad for software updates. LG and Samsung are like Pixel devices in comparison to the speed which Oppo rolls out updates. Did this very early. I don't even remember what LG's keyboard looks like.

I tried SwiftKey for a while. Any others I should try? Whats with people complaining about updates. Never ever had many updates with LG, Samsung and I would assume any other non google phone.

As someone else said I cannot live without the double tap to close function.

Hrmmm worth trying — I have an Android wear watch, so will try turn off Bluetooth for it The G6 doesn't seem to handle it well. Disabled Qualcom Izat in location settings; and 3.

After doing this — the phone actually works and does not suck battery life like a pig in a trough. So far I have re-enabled bluetooth and thus android wear connection, and still no issues with phone idle.

Yeah, that is what it is designed to do It was enabled for me. May just be a buggy bit of software? Can't confirm one way or another, was just desparate to get a working phone.

Quoted for truth, I am in the same boat here. My phone arrived yesterday — I am pretty sure Telstra has already released the September security updates and they are the absolute worst for that kind of thing.

Just means the next one will be something like Nokia or Pixel to get the updates virtually immediately. No one really knows. It's an LG app which runs at the system level and logs everything you do with your phone: I would assume that it's a debugging program which was meant to be turned off after release, but LG seemingly forgot about it.

I don't believe that it actually does anything with this data besides store it locally. You can sift through Google and read what other people have to say about it. Do you recall if it had apps like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram all running in the background plus the camera?

Did give them a bollocking why the K version for Telstra was already out. Not acceptable for Telstra to have the update pushed before the stock is approved. Just got one from JB. Is this the latest?

I am not sure if the non-branded K available through some eBay sellers and Mobileciti has the September patch yet. I got mine via Amazon, it's due to be delivered Friday.

Can anyone comment on reception? I'm using Telstra, and for some reason, this area is a black hole for them. I have tried the following cases, where my main aim was to minimise width and weight, and protect the camera glass by having some case material rather than the camera glass on the table when I put it down Looks interesting, I guess.

Feels nicest in the hand out of the 4, although the edge near the charger is sharp, while every other one properly rounded. After testing them all out, going with the Lenuo, feels nicest in the hand to me, keeps it light and not covered in fingerprints.

Used it for the first time with my jabra Bluetooth earphones. Huge amount of audio lag. Basically unusable when watching videos. Is there anyway to stop notifications, which I've cleared, from constantly popping up on my notification bar unless I open the application?

With my Sony phone, if I swiped any notification away from the notification bar that notification would not appear ever again, on the LG if will constantly pop up as if though I've received a new notification until I open the application of which the notification belongs.

What kind of notification is this that would keep popping up if you've already cleared it from status bar? Missed call notification, text messages, and another application which I use for messaging.

I have cleared missed call notifications without entering into the phone app and do not subsequently get a new notification — even though there's a 1 on the phone app as I haven't checked the app yet.

This also happens to me I think, I'll have to remember to double check next time im clearing a notification without unlocking. I think what happens is I swipe to clear it without unlocking then when I unclock and go into the phone its still there.

Think thats the same as what youre saying. It doesn't matter if the phone is locked or unlocked. I get a text message, I'll clear it by swiping it off the notification shade, and since the phone doesn't have a notification light, I might check the phone again 30 minutes later and notice that I there is a text message notification I read the notification and it will be the exact same text message that I cleared 30 minutes previous.

It gets really annoying when you swipe every message and by the end of the day they all build up. By the end of the day you'll have all the messages you have received all still showing up as being unread unless you open each and every one of those messages.

You can't auto hide by app like the V20? I thought the UI for the G6 was largely the same as V It baffles me they would leave out such a handy feature out It's all software that already have..

Hope the V30 has it ;-. My girlfriend's Huawei is the same.. My previous Xiaomi 5" was good with capacitive nav buttons in the bottom bezel. A bit difference for G6 because it is a 5. Actually it is a little bit smaller than 5.

Have to wait more apps to support I think it will because most new phone are Thanks, but I currently don't own the phone — I'm considering to buy it, so my question was to owners, could you, please check an let me know?

Can anyone recommend a good charger for slow charging overnight? I want to reduce the wear and tear on the battery where possible, and fast charging isn't necessary for me when my phone sits on the charger for hours overnight.

You can use the non fast charge port to charge overnight. Cheers for the recommendation. I'll grab that while it's on sale. I actually just bought some Blitzwolf cables from that website last night as well haha!

No idea of what improvements there are. After installing, there are no obvious changes. Probably the only fix is the wifi security issue. Still no Volte or Wifi calling for Aus carriers.

May be the Oreo update will fix this but I'm not holding my breath. Serious question-what Oreo feature are you hanging out for? There's really only notification improvements. I reckon you'll only get this on handsets sold by carriers, as I believe the feature needs to be activated for each handset or batches of their serial numbers.

Very large download as it's taking forever. What are the key points to reducing wear and tear on the battery? Wouldnt mind also implementing some of these like yourself.

Mine updated last night and It showed the warning on the phone this morning.. And no there was no water near the phone, i had it on charge as it was downloading the update, but took it off charge when I installed the update, checked update had worked, put phone on bedside table and went to bed.

During the first stage of the update just before the phone rebooted, i saw a message on the background saying something about closing the sim tray properly to prevent water ingress. But this went away after the reboot.

Maybe it is related? Try ejecting the sim and reseating it. If charge overnight I will plug it into the non fast charge port so that I won't get hot during charging.

I used to get this a fair bit when charging with some cheap cords I bought in ebay. Haven't experienced it recently though, must have been patched by an older update.

I updated to V10m last night, and still haven't experienced this. Maybe try a different cable and see if it still happens. My ds had this issue but well before the update. I had to send it back to qd au for a warranty repair.

It took forever but honestly the process was better than through most local retailers I've had to return things to. It does seem to be a known issue with the phone. I don't know how, but it checks if there is moisture in the charging port.

If working properly, once you dry out your port the error message goes away and you can charge as normal. This is a huge pile of bs. Last LG phone for me. Its got to be either a software or hardware error, and as mentioned, there are quite a few people with a similar problem.

Irrespective, I've learned my lesson having come from an iPhone. Likely back to iOS or to a pixel for me when I can justify an upgrade, likely less than a year into owning this phone.

Which is unfortunate given my previous iPhone 6 lasted me 3 years. Yes, tried all the usual things and all the tricks i was able to google, problem now is its completely dead, so cant do a backup, or anything else, also found that DWI look to be fairly difficult with warranty on moisture type claims, may not be worth the effort of sending it back.

Because expecting regular updates on a 10 month old flagship is bratty. Yeah that's fair but security updates should not be so delayed. I'm on July still. This fragmentation of updates across a single device is unnecessary.

It's too bad, the phone itself is good. Too bad lg treats it more as a 'got your money, too bad' situation. That or they can't coordinate their ass from their hands. Before you RMA your phone, try charging using another cable and charger.

Why this constant craving for the latest update? Serious security risks aside, it often seems that 'the latest update' adds meaningless, trivial or purely cosmetic changes.. I even asked them on chat if i purchased it from them, lol nope not enabled Have to wonder why as it's only going to benefit them.

I go to my brothers house and no telstra coverage even with blue tick. Need wifi calling only way i can survive. Need to get a new phone for station. I am station officer in rural station. G6 seems good for our budget.

While you have it plugged in and displaying the error, hold the Up button and Back button until it reboots. Assuming it will reboot, may take 10 seconds or so holding the buttons. A Ray of Sunshine writes If the G6 gives me grief or doesn't last at least 3 years then no more LG for me no matter how cheap or free it is.

So far so good, i'm really enjoying this phone, if this phone lasts more than 2yrs then it will make up for the crappy G And i think you mean the up volume button? After owning two Nexus phones and flashing many custom ROMs over the years, I got to a point I was happy to just settle on a good stable version that worked flawlessly.

I settled on 7. For me, there's no point getting the obsolute latest version because there's been nothing really ground breaking I desperately want. Security updates are obviously good but even then, the risk they're protecting against is almost negligible.

As long as LG makes some kind of effort. I only have an issue with updates when the device never ever gets any kind of support whatsoever. For example the Samsung Galaxy Tab A. There is an easy way to hide the navigation buttons, you'll need a pc and android ADB.

I done it on my G6 a while ago but only kept it that way for one day because I was getting some serious battery drain. Do a web search for G6 immersive mode adb.
