Like I said before this Project Treble thing will not help the android updates situation. Oems will completely ignore it and stick with their BS update schedules and policies.
Even though it's mandatory if you ship a device with 8. Because on project treble you can run AOSP rom with minimal development, even future versions after your manufacturer stopped updating the phone, because it's forward compatible.
It's a huge deal. On the sidenote it will be easier for manufacturers to build updates so they just might do it more often, but if they don't - no problem, you could just install AOSP and be done with it.

Secondly you're overestimating the value of project treble, it won't include everything necessary to give you a working custom ROM, there is still a lot of closed source binaries that OEM's will never release that means your custom OS won't work as well as the manufacturer OS.
That's the thing, they don't have to release anything. In treble Android standardizes the way the system hooks into vendor drivers, so custom ROMs can just hook into that without porting anything.
It's not happening already, it's a chore for devs to make aosp working on devices without treble. It's changing with 8. You're dreaming if you think things like camera blobs and other closed source binaries will ever be released.
You didn't get my point, most custom ROMs already do what is being mentioned although significantly slower, treble just means you will see stable builds of AOSP ROMs significantly faster but the issues that plague them such as subpar camera performance and missing features compared to OEM stock OS will still be there as those parts will never be released.
I didn't miss your point, it's valid, but you just confirmed my point. Android updates will be faster and will last longer. Obviously not all features can be ported from manufacturer skins, but that wasn't the part of the discussion.
It'll definitely help Google extend support and I'm sure Sony will jump on it just because they're pretty good about updates, buy it isn't going to change the way a company prioritizes updates.

Working perfectly on Samsung S3 — Sprint. Used the micro Gapps. First install was a no go. Tried again and installed Gapps before the CM11 image. Brand new phone in 20 minutes.

I want to flash an active phone, but have had this issue in the past. Answering my own question. Flashed phone to stock rom, making sure data works. Installed CWM Recovery, and went thruogh the tutorial above.
How can I fix it?. I used the OnePlus One and I liked the double tap on screen that will wake the phone. Comparing between the setting menus of the two phones, this is under the display setting in the OnePlus One menu but it is not there on the Note 3.

Logically, a lot of people would, since OEMs try so hard to make their phones thin. But I wonder if they're simply mistaken, and would sell more phones if the batteries were bigger.
I still wonder, why they settle everytime with battery caps. Another varient, slightly thick with Ah battery is a sure take to me..! Honestly the thin phone trend we have nowadays is terrible and severely limits things like battery capacities, since the industry still hasn't come up with an entirely new type of batteries for mobile devices.

So no OIS, no expandable storage, same battery mAh with bigger display It seems that they have changed the telephoto sensor for other sensor with same focal aperture to improve the low light photos with the trick of merge pixels.
Not sure if it could perform well till see the real result. Add OIS for low light plus maintaining the telephoto lens would has been, by far, a better option. But they are limited in space due to be a R11 clone.
So basically the improvements are: I was praying that they would somehow put a 4, mAh battery in this like the Oppo R11s Plus. I would have bought this thing in a heartbeat if they did lol I guess its the Mate 10 pro for me!

The 5T's display might be too big for me as well. I was just defending glass backs today saying my N4 and my current V30 are the best phones to hold that I've owned haha.
Ah the Nexus 4: P Great memories with that one. Drop it a couple of times when i was drunk and got some marks on the edges, but the display waas still clean and unfractured: So no OIS, no expandable storage, same battery I expected, at least, a bigger one, mono speaker, comes with Nougat 7.
A main camera with OIS plus maintaining the telephoto would has been, by far, a better option. You pay for luxury features. You can't expect phones to have everything at a sub price.
Even cheaper with buy one, get one deals. And there is no GCam port for the OP5 that works without artifacts, afaik. Curious about this on the 5T because it had become an important box a phone should tick to me.
They started USB-C with v2. That was Wow, at that time. With the 5T the lack of IP certification definitely is a deal breaker. Ideally is pixel 2 XL, but to expensive for me.
The 5T looks fine, but p screen on the good side at less resolution more battery life, but I would like better resolution Huawei has propietary UI, that I dont like.
Maybe my best choice is to replace the battery on my 6P after 2 years is only lasting 1. Really interesting that they dropped the telephoto lens, I'm kind of confused over how this new setup works.
One sensor for good light and one for low light. Kind of seems redundant to have two in this case. But I guess we will find out soon enough how it works in practice. This is probably one of the better implementations of the 2: I still wouldn't want a 2: I'll choose Essential PH-1 any day over this garbage.
Next March they'll probably have OnePlus 6 and everyone here will shit themselves. After that, good luck with the updates on your 3Ts, 5s, 5ts and many more to come.
Camera - for now - suck with Essential, but rest of the device as well as the OS is light years better. Yo know it''s always going to have the latest Android as long as hardware handles it. No thanks Carl Pei I was also treated to great software support on the OPO.
The OP5 has a better camera and software than the Essential PH-1 so not sure what benefit besides looks you're getting on that phone. I've seen reviews such as Mr.
Mobile yesterday and the PH-1 is buggy as hell. Good luck hope that phone lives up to your expectations. I already stated Essential's camera. But everyone know the issues and storm clouds around OnePlus phones.
They are not the best when it comes to updates and customer appreciation. Essential already has November Security patch, what does OnePlus 5 has? So your measure of software support is security patches?
Oneplus releases tons of updates, we get one every 2 weeks on beta and stable gets one every 2 months. The Oneplus 5 has been getting tons of updates as well. They aren't fast at giving security updates despite the fact the phone is getting updates.
They are very good when it comes to updates in my experience, not sure what you're talking about. Every single phone on the markets so claiming everyone knows is a silly statement, how many articles are posted about the Pixel's?

I own a 3T and 5, both of them are inferior to Essential PH Try spending at least a week with a device before talking BS about. Oh by the way, Essential's battery life is way more than any OnePlus ever built.

We were talking about updates. The Essential does have a smaller battery and a crappy camera. What kind of battery life are you seeing on it? Yeah I watched some youtube videos and that's how I ultimately choose to buy phones, based on reviews I read or watch, can't waste my time buying devices that are known for having issues, the price is very good at the moment, but you can get an S8 at that price now.

The rest don't look as sexy. How much longer will it take for you to accept that it takes time to go on new version and a lot of work? Ironically, it's my point. Vendors like LG and Samsung are continually castigated for having "old" versions of Android, but everyone forgets just how many additional features they add, and that it takes time to rework their additions into the OS without introducing bugs.
For a company like OnePlus, that ships a close to stock experience, they shouldn't get a pass on that aspect. They save price somewhere else. Maybe the screen they have in phone is worse, or maybe camera sensor is cheaper.
Looks like a modern LG G2 with a bigger display. I like it design-wise. Small upper bezel, with no dumb curves on the corners. That's means you need a 8K laptop then.
You are missing one major factor, distance to the screen. Phones are often used very close to your eyes so the extra resolution does become noticeable. If you only use your phone at arms length or as far as your laptop, then sure the extra resolution is silly, but thats obviously not the case.
I am not saying the resolution is absolutely necessary, but without considering distance to the screen, your whole argument is just wrong. Look at all the people here talking about hardware specs.
This is the company that broke the OnePlus Two with a crap software making the phone freeze frequently even during an audio phone call and refused to provide a fix for 4 months because they were trying to get Marshmallow out the door.
How come phones in still have USB 2. I get that most people won't require a faster connection but is it so expensive to put a faster USB controller? But, since they would be happy with 1 million of sold units, I guess it's good enough.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Exynos version is what you need Least expensive but also very futureproof still Exynos in S7 was ahead of its time even rivalling this year's Snapdragon especially in battery efficiency etc While also having the best camera and everything.
Do not get the Snapdragon version of Samsung. Two finger print sensors? Only one on the back. All down to the camera for me. If it's good, I'm buying 2. I'll wait for the 5TT three months from now.
I have a OnePlus one and was hoping for a 5. They wouldn't have to decrease the battery size. It's okay to make phones thicker. Android updates on oneplus is insanely short. No Oreo and Project Treble out of the box is unacceptable.
All the phones launching with 8. Other than the Pixels, what else launched with 8. My V30 launched with 7. Out of the box? This years Sony flagships came with Oreo. It would even make porting newer flagship softwares onto older devices.

It sucks the battery pretty quick on my note 2. Is there a setting to adjust to get more out of the battery? You can try to use TricksterMod which you can download from Play Store.
