OP5 kernel jumps up the juice pretty quick. The U11 got its speed from forcing 60fps. I got just as good of battery life out of my OPO as I do the 5. When it was new. They should do better as efficiency get better.

It may be the nature of the displays, but they sure don't look equalized. The Pixel 2 XL especially looks much more dull. The OP5 looks brighter than the others. OP5 doesn't have near the battery life of the 2XL.
My first charge was 1. Then my third or fourth charge was 3d6h with 11h sot. I don't like charging to full. OP5 I get a little better than half that. I haven't watched that video.
Not my cup of tea. Not sure if that is the difference or not. I think battery life is more about standby, apps being open and ready instead of being aggressively killed a few minutes later phone calls and finally SoT.
The One plus has a much lower resolution screen which obvs draws less energy but doesn't look as nice. Its a trade off. Battery life improving after a software update is a myth.
You suddenly notice better battery life and it's again draining. The only battery saving feature in Oreo which is actually worth is having the ability to disable App background activity for any app.
But anyways, most of them wouldn't even care to open that particular settings. You're entitled to your own opinion and that's fine. My opinion holds that Oreo has improved battery life on some of my devices that were updated and that's firmly where it'll stay.
I don't think people who make comments like those actually know what the differences are. If they answer at all they rarely do, they just pull some unprovable fact out of their arse.
Better battery life, better performance, project treble, improved settings app, even more control over notifications, and I'm sure there's more that I don't know off the top of my head. These are huge things and people not getting 5T and waiting for OP6 will totally be worth it!
What about the system partition? I use a Oneplus 3 and its still working fine without any major lag. The phone occasionally hang though. They literally just started beta testing Oreo. Launching this phone with Oreo would have meant this would likely have been an early release.
Engadget says the camera is slightly better than the OnePlus 5, but that it is still WAY outclassed by other flagship cameras. It's in their interest to sell their wares for as much as they can.
If people continue to pay it, it'll keep happening. It's all we can do. Is this just a meme at this point or are people that crazy? If you look for something long enough on a phone screen you'll eventually see it.
I have the OP5 and I have never noticed any jelly effect or issues scrolling. And it ruins the perceived value and quality of the device. The thing is most people don't notice it.

Just depends on your needs I guess. Essential has higher quality build materials that are more durable, a much smaller phone, in my opinon much better looking phone. Dash charging is cool for sure but Quick Charge has been and is more than fast enough for my needs.
I personally have bluetooth headphones but having the headphone jack is nice, even though every flagship is most likely going to get rid of it eventually. It would be nice to get a re-review on one.
Especially now that so many people are saying it's much better. If I don't upgrade my 5 on the 21st and if Essential does a Cyber Monday fire sale I might jump on one just to see for myself.
I guess the Essential is better if you spend more time looking at the back of your phone than the front. Don't forget about those cancerous s-style rounded corners seen on the screens of many "new" phones including the "Essential".

The initial price point would need to be higher which would then ostracize the consumer base they're trying to attract. Sure they'd make the money back with Verizon but then they'd be a different company than they are trying to be.
Your comment makes no sense. You seem to be emotionally invested in a cellphone manufacturer. As if their decision not to support Verizon is noble. It's a cellphone that doesn't offer support for a large potential customer base.
Your carrier isn't a personal judgment. It's pretty reasonable for Verizon customers to request support. Isn't it great when someone joins a conversation with the sole purpose of picking a fight?
Maybe you should get a grip and read the entire thread again. You completely missed my point by the way and what this back and forth was about. His argument was that they should try to support Verizon, and acknowledged that it would be expensive but the sales to Verizon customers would cover overall costs.
My argument is that the support of Verizon would require a ton of additional up front costs to OnePlus, and therefore would require a higher initial price point to the consumer.
OnePlus prides themselves on providing an affordable "flagship" to consumers. If costs get out of hand they can't meet that statement. I'm explaining my argument.

That's some serious food for thought. When Nougat introduced the dual system partitions for seamless OS upgrades, OnePlus deliberately chose not to do so, so it wouldn't surprise me. I thought it was supposed to be default and strongly recommended, but I'm not sure what the requirements were or what other manufacturers did.
Like I said, I didn't know what others did. I just know there was news when OnePlus decided not to. Seamless Updates Qualcomm Quickcharge 4. That is downright the best thing about it for me.
For once, I don't feel like the promises of better battery life were empty. That's my biggest issue with OnePlus devices. Their battery life is "fine" but it's also not any better than devices with QHD screens.
And smaller batteries in some cases. I just don't get what the issue is there. Well, no idea, I never heard much complaints about OP5 battery life and on every comparison on yt I watched it always came out on top or second place.
I wouldn't be worried about battery life on the OP5t. What will keep me from getting one is the same thing that kept me from getting a OP5, and that's the camera. That reminds me of the joke, 10, years of eating bread, and suddenly everyone's gluten-intolerant.
So many years of not having a camera with you, and now that everyone has one in their pocket, suddenly they're all professional photographers. OP5 kernel jumps up the juice pretty quick.
The U11 got its speed from forcing 60fps. I got just as good of battery life out of my OPO as I do the 5. When it was new. They should do better as efficiency get better.
Nice comparison but are all the displays for each phone on at a equal levels of brightness with adaptive brightness off for this comparison? Guess I missed that part. Just curious if they actually measured the light coming out of each display or just set the slider by hand to what looks like similar spots.
It may be the nature of the displays, but they sure don't look equalized. The Pixel 2 XL especially looks much more dull. The OP5 looks brighter than the others. OP5 doesn't have near the battery life of the 2XL.
My first charge was 1. Then my third or fourth charge was 3d6h with 11h sot. I don't like charging to full. OP5 I get a little better than half that. I haven't watched that video.
Not my cup of tea. Not sure if that is the difference or not. I think battery life is more about standby, apps being open and ready instead of being aggressively killed a few minutes later phone calls and finally SoT.
The One plus has a much lower resolution screen which obvs draws less energy but doesn't look as nice. Its a trade off. Battery life improving after a software update is a myth.
You suddenly notice better battery life and it's again draining. The only battery saving feature in Oreo which is actually worth is having the ability to disable App background activity for any app.
But anyways, most of them wouldn't even care to open that particular settings. You're entitled to your own opinion and that's fine. My opinion holds that Oreo has improved battery life on some of my devices that were updated and that's firmly where it'll stay.
I don't think people who make comments like those actually know what the differences are. If they answer at all they rarely do, they just pull some unprovable fact out of their arse. Better battery life, better performance, project treble, improved settings app, even more control over notifications, and I'm sure there's more that I don't know off the top of my head.
These are huge things and people not getting 5T and waiting for OP6 will totally be worth it! What about the system partition? I use a Oneplus 3 and its still working fine without any major lag.
The phone occasionally hang though. They literally just started beta testing Oreo. Launching this phone with Oreo would have meant this would likely have been an early release.
Engadget says the camera is slightly better than the OnePlus 5, but that it is still WAY outclassed by other flagship cameras. It's in their interest to sell their wares for as much as they can.
If people continue to pay it, it'll keep happening. It's all we can do. Is this just a meme at this point or are people that crazy? If you look for something long enough on a phone screen you'll eventually see it.
I have the OP5 and I have never noticed any jelly effect or issues scrolling. And it ruins the perceived value and quality of the device. The thing is most people don't notice it.
I do, but other people I showed my device don't. No two are alike. They absolutely hate free speech and are therefor null and void of any worth. I'd actually like to see this. Because they ban people for freely speaking.

Par for the course nowadays. That would be in keeping with their fascism. Instant no-buy for me, sold my OP5 the day it arrived because of that. Just depends on your needs I guess. Essential has higher quality build materials that are more durable, a much smaller phone, in my opinon much better looking phone.
Dash charging is cool for sure but Quick Charge has been and is more than fast enough for my needs. I personally have bluetooth headphones but having the headphone jack is nice, even though every flagship is most likely going to get rid of it eventually.
It would be nice to get a re-review on one. Especially now that so many people are saying it's much better. If I don't upgrade my 5 on the 21st and if Essential does a Cyber Monday fire sale I might jump on one just to see for myself.
I guess the Essential is better if you spend more time looking at the back of your phone than the front. Don't forget about those cancerous s-style rounded corners seen on the screens of many "new" phones including the "Essential".
I'd consider one if their face unlock worked anywhere near as good as a fingerprint. If for nothing more than the animojis. No, I am more oriented towards the 8 Plus, still used to the Fingerprint readers, and the X is still too new.
It is capable of outlining the subject. Then the OEM just has to clean up the edges. It would be cool if one of you guys knows about this stuff and can spell it out for us.
And I don't think the hump is bigger because they had to make room for a new camera module. I think it is because the cameras are now sitting on top of a screen.
