Is it weird that I have a similar issue on both my Samsung Note 4 and Note 3 when the brightness is way down and the background is pitch black? Almost as if the more processes that are running in the background, the worse it gets for me. But it's not a matter of visibility.

Now is jelly effect so noticable upside down. My first OP phone and I've lucked out for the most part. One plus one mobile price in india and features Chat on our Telegram group! You will not see it because the 3T screen is mounted correctly. Frankly, I don't care if it's the reason - it got more people's attention which is the only way this stands a chance at being fixed.

They will fix it. Something about the OP5's screen must be significantly different if this effect is considered "normal".

Even the cost is the same. That doesn't mean as consumers, we should be praising the fact that a company had to release a new phone without messing up the manufacturing especially when people supported their releases. Yeah, I'm sure that if I just made a random post somewhere saying "oh I looked at the source it's caused by the front facing camera" you'd probably decide that was the problem as well. 11.02.2018 - I really do hope it gets fixed though. While comparing the OP5T to the next generation is akin to apples and oranges. I really don't see it upside down on either my Note 5 or my S8. You could fix it by adjusting the colors with a custom kernel. If you're big on that shit I'd get a 5T or Pixel 2 depending on your love for the headphone jack.

28.03.2018 - I returned my op5 because of it, however had the screen been mounted correctly I would have kept the op5 and not bat an eye lid for the 5t. But I kind of like it. It's barely noticeable on my screen. This has all been said many times already. Hope that clears things up a little!

Future products will be added as soon as possible. Hijacking the top comment to say, "Jelly" is not the best term to describe it. It's more of an expanding and contracting. When you scroll it contracts, and as the scrolling stops it expands.

And don't see it when I hold my OP5 upside down. I also just tested scrolling in landscape mode, and there is a wave effect. Creating a wave effect as the bottom loads then the top loads.

This is clearly an issue of the top of the display refreshing slower than the bottom half. I have tried it on 3t two weeks ago and I haven't seen anything.

Now is jelly effect so noticable upside down. This has all been said many times already.. Your going too see it on any phone if you turn it upside down, not just your OPO. It seems it happens on the lower third of the screen, if you assume it starts refreshing from the top.

Since you tend to look to the upper part of the screen, the effect is not noticiable normally. If you rotate the device your eyes will face now the previous "lower third", which makes the effect visible.

Since the OP5 has the screen panel mounted in reverse, you will notice this in everyday usage. That's my 30 secs made up theory. I agree, in fact you know what I would call it, smoothing.

It reminds me of the motion smoothing or as I like to call it the soap-opera-setting you get on a lot of televisions. The TV's processor attempt to guess which pixels are going to be used next and smooths all the motion.

I cant stand it because it makes me sea sick and I honestly think that is exactly what we are seeing here. OP was advertising a smooth OS experience, there smoothest ever in fact, well this would be one way to do it.

The problem is our brains, many peoples in fact, are tuned to ignore the jitter, but when you have this forced smoothing it makes the affect much more pronounced. The more I look at it the more I want to say it's like an acceleration.

Instead of instantly scrolling quickly, the image gradually increases speed in either direction. It's not a big deal to me, but very different than what my brain expects when I'm tracking items on the screen.

The wave effect looks kind cool. Apparently XDA has some new info on this here and are finishing an even newer story that'll be published very soon with information that. Yeah I've got one of those Thinking about of just returning it although it might be a software issue.

That's the worst public response they could give. At least they were fast, so you can return your phones before the 15 days period ends. I'm just waiting for them to drop support for the 3T sooner than expected, that'll be probably be my cue to switch to another rom.

Lineage is pretty good with consistent updates, but the fact we have to switch ROMs to keep up with google updates is absolutely absurd. Me and my gf were both about to order the OP5, but there are more serious companies out there.

I can't accept the benchmark thing.. It's the best phone I've ever had but the last One Plus I'll purchase. Waiting six months for things like a proprietary charger to be restocked is just absurd.

This company is as transparent as a concrete sidewalk. Replacements aren't going to fix it. Hopefully it has to do with the display drivers, and they'll push an update, but that's being hopeful, since they aren't acknowledging the issue.

I actually have another issue with my display though so still thinking about a RMA for that. Do we know for sure? It sounds like it might be a hardware issue: I've decided to return mine. It was fun while it lasted.

This to me implies it's a hardware issue which is why they're getting in quick with the "it's normal" line since they know they can't fix it in software. Currently running FreedomOS with elementalx kernel.

It's not too customized as it's based on Oxygen, but it's much smoother, but the according like scrolling is still there. It's much less jittery though compared to stock though, making it more tolerable.

Thanks for chiming in. I feel that if a rom is based on oxygen it means the code responsible for the effect is still present. It would be a better test to do this on an aosp based rom.

But as of currently I don't think there are even any aosp roms available yet. Just compare the teardowns of 3T and 5 which have the same display panel - the display is rotated: It literally is on purpose - it fit inside the phone better when it was rotated, so they did it.

I'm not sure why is it such a big deal, but maybe I'm just not as sensitive to this effect. I'd say it could maybe be "fixed" in the display firmware by reversing the order in which pixels are getting updated, but they'd have to force the display manufacturer to do it, and I'm not sure whether the display is even built in a way that would allow this.

I also guess that the only way to fix this is through a firmware update of the panel. So we have to "thank" the improved vibration engine and not the new camera system?

The vibration engine on 5 is in the place the connector is on 3T, yes. But it was more likely just a decision some engineer made to fit everything in there and make it as thin as possible, and definitely didn't expect this kind of side effect, or considered it insignificant.

Honestly, I don't think it is such a big deal either but disclaimer: I own the phone. If this is the worst thing you can find on the phone from the engineering standpoint, they did great fucking job.

We probably can't fix this and don't want to do a recall or deal with a massive amount of RMAs. I'm so sad, just upgraded from a Nexus 6P, and this is my present for me moving to grade 11, and not even a week after getting a new phone after 18 months this happens: I saw that you typed a sad face emoticon in your comment, so I just wanted to let you know that I hope you have a wonderful day!

I am a bot. Please don't hesitate to PM me any questions. You make 18 months sound like a very long time to use the same phone Sorry if I misinterpreted that line. Are you kidding me?

Got my phone today, love it, but I really can't stand the jellyness. I'll wait some more days before I decide on what I do, but I guess I'll return it. I'm tempted but its so much hassle returning this one.

I've actually requested the return, since I believed their "community" statement from their presentation, but honestly the g6 seems a better choice for less and now lg has announced official support for an unlocked bootloader.

I think they have gone quantity than quality this time. I wish they had quality as their priority, but it seems it's not. I'm really trying to love the OP5 despite it's shortcomings, but little shit like this would drive me insane.

Hoping its a software thing and not a display effect. It has to do something with hardware because display is mounted upside down that need certain parts replaced. It cannot be fixed with software alone and Hardware requires new compatibility with updated vsync instead of inverted sync.

Man i must be the luckiest man alive having bought this disaster of a phone and having none of these issues and actually enjoying it so much.. We're on the same "sinking"? I'm loving the phone but I do have this issue.

It's a little irritating but it's not a big deal. I really do hope it gets fixed though. To all of those who say they don't have the jelly effect, OnePlus just stated that you do have it.

There is no variance and you just haven't noticed it. It's on every OP5 hell, every phone if you turn them upside down. It's one of those "when you see it, you can't unsee it" situations.

Do you have to scroll fast or is it easier to notice when scrolling slowly? With shapes or text? Dark on light background or light on dark background? On videos it is slowed down, in reality it is waay less noticeable.

Some people don't see it, but it doesn't mean it is not there. Try forced reversed portrait. But I'll definitely try to see the effect again then. When it's upside down the jellying will happen on the top, right side up on the bottom.

Symmetrical but that shouldn't effect where you see it, only the direction you see it Benefit of the doubt I've got one coming in the mail tomorrow. The root cause from what i can tell from reading about it is because of the order in which the pixels update.

They go left to right, top row to bottom row. The display is speculated to be mounted upside down which means that the order is right to left, bottom of screen to the top. It is noticeable particularly when you are scrolling because it is moving the screen top to down, but it refreshes down to top.

I feel like some people are forcing themselves to see it, but there was one video where the jelly effect was pretty clear. I still doubt the touch latency issue because my phone feels the same as any other phone I've tried.

There is this one https: It looks really bad here like the refresh rate is broken. Most of the other videos though I can't see it. My OP5 comes in tomorrow hopefully so I hope I don't see this lol.

But thanks for sharing the link! You will not see it because the 3T screen is mounted correctly. Don't hold your phone upside down though No such effect on my OP3 at all no matter which orientation.

Something about the OP5's screen must be significantly different if this effect is considered "normal". I've heard that they are "supposed" to be the same panel but I cant replicate the issue either.

Sadly I couldn't invest more time to research its validity but if the calibration feature level is different then it's likely to be a different panel. You should note that the video is partially recorded in slow-motion.

It is thus way more apparent on the video than in real life. If I try to see it, I can just about see it, but as soon as I stop trying I can't see it anymore. I really don't see it upside down on either my Note 5 or my S8.

Are you sure this is the case with every panel? I can't see it either. I've turned it upside down, I've turned other phones upside down, I just can't see anything. I don't even understand what is supposed to look like.

Does it have to do with some setting people enable? Is it even something that happens with every phone? Can anyone explain it further than "You know dude, like jelly you know?

What's the refresh rate on that screen? It seems to me that increasing it would reduce this effect. I'm not sure what it is, I just wanted to point out a logical flaw in what people were all repeating earlier.

I'm not about to return my phone. Fuck that No way. Is it possible to fix this via software? Honestly its one of the risks with ordering right on release day. Same thing with the G6 and S8. If you return and buy again later, you probably wont have the issue.

Or hold on to it for a couple months and RMA once the demand has gone down and the issues are worked out. Whatever the issue ends up being, as was with the yellowed screen of the OPO, RMA requests will be denied and you'll be told it doesn't impede functionality.

Every new OnePlus device, I come back to the subreddit hoping things are different, but. Came here to update my last comment and noticed yours: What's your phone's manufacturing date?

It's in the Box. What it means is that by design OnePlus has placed the screen in the phone at an orientation that is degrees from what it was on the 3T. If that is the case, all phones will be affected by this.

If you can't see it lucky you, but it is there. Yeah, it's not like the display ribbon cable is going to magically transpose itself. Installing by accident would move this connector to not be installable But if the refresh is backwards from normal, I'd think there would be a way to get the display to reverse refresh direction.

That's the million dollar question. Because I'll have to return it if it's not fixable: See and here I was being downvoted for this exact comment. Of course OP isn't putting the panels upside down by accident.

That wouldn't make sense in how the phone is designed. So if this is a by design it is hopefully intended and perhaps fixable by software. I just made this image, from the placement of the connector cable it does look like the display is mounted upside down Again, I appreciate the attempt, but I'm looking for definitive proof of the orientation of the display, not an inference based on location of connector.

I'm looking for someone as OP claimed to teardown the phone and say "Oddly enough, it seems that the display is mounted upside down". I just want to see hard evidence, not just "I saw this and conflated this but XDA said this so I'm pretty sure of this".

The display is the exact same hardware exact same Samsung part number in the 3T and 5, in the 3T the connector is above the display, and in the 5 it's below the display. Therefore I can conclude it's mounted upside down.

Of course you can just flip the output image like you can on some computer graphic cards, I'm guessing there's an internal algorithm inside the display itself the images are being updated which makes it look "jelly".

I don't care if you believe me or not, I'm pretty convinced that "it's upside down! But I'm not going to speculate whether this is the cause of the jelly effect or not.

This image basically proves it all. I hope they can invert the refresh rate to make it refresh from bottom to top which is top to bottom on the OP5 lol. I just made this image, from the placement of the connector cable it does look like the display is mounted upside down.

This isn't really the definitive proof I was looking for, but at least unlike OP you have made some attempt to examine and post up something, so kudos to you. He seems to be ignoring anyone who's asking for a link.

He was totally fine with running around telling everyone that this was a "PSA" and implying that everything he's said is undeniable fact. He hasn't addressed a simple request for a video that he says proves he is correct, whta's up with that?

All devices are affected. Some people just can't notice it. Be glad you can't see it. I never experience a touch latency on the OP3. There's definitely a different from device to device.

Have you seen the super absurd jello on video? I sure as hell don't have that That doesn't mean all devices are affected tho. Mine is totally fine and I'm aware of this jelly effect. Please post a video of som scrolling up and down in Instagram, I found it is most noticeable there with images not videos as much.

I am assuming that all OP5's have this issue, but some people don't notice it. Since all displays will have been mounted upside down by design, the screen panel refresh direction will also be inverted on all of them.

I don't see it on mine either. I tried to turn mine upside down but it actually won't rotate the screen. I think that might be it for me. I was already on the fence about keeping it, doing an RMA seems like such a hassle.

I'm also VERY on the fence. I feel like when you buy a phone though you should already know you're gonna buy it with no prior issues or questions asked.

This on the other hand, I keep going both ways. The price is right but the camera, jelly scrolling, horror stories on this sub, customer support, and whatever else I'm forgetting make me think otherwise.

I miss android though. I'd be surprised if it's because they accidentally mounted a display the wrong way. More likely it's refreshing in the opposite direction. Hopefully it's fixable via an update.

I honestly think no manufacturer would be that stupid. I thought about it enough. Wouldn't the little sensor in the upper left corner of your screen, which I believe to be part of the screen, be on the down right corner?

If it really is an hardware problem, flipping your phone should move the jelly effect, not make it disappear. Basically, the screen draws pixels, row by row, from the top down normally.

Majority of the time, you're scrolling down, so jelly is less visible. Also, you tend to look at the top two thirds of your screen more than the bottom. However because the panel on the OnePlus 5 is mounted upside down by design, scrolling down is actually like scrolling up, and the pixel rows are refreshing in the opposite direction of the stuff on screen, so there's a bit of lag refreshing the last bits.

It's sorta like how things come out stretched when you film something and move the camera too fast. Hope that clears things up a little! I did see that in the comments somewhere but even when I look at the bottom and scroll up I still don't see a jelly effect.

It's an optical illusion, if you flip yourself instead of the phone and look at the bottom, it still jellies. No idea how that works lol. Yeah I figured but it's creepy how you don't notice it when it's in a normal rotation.

I guess it's just you're accustomed to it? I'd credit it to the fact that I never look at the bottom of the screen except to type, but yeah, it's definitely being accustomed, otherwise a subtle change wouldn't have made a whole community notice.

Even if I do look at the bottom of the screen while scrolling I still don't notice it. Was about to laugh it off but decided to try it anyway and lo and behold, no more jelly while scrolling.

Decided to try it on another phone that didn't have this problem and it turned into jelly after turning it upside down. Now to find out why this happens. It is probably due to how displays work with the content being refreshed from top to bottom.

If you now rotate the display by degrees, the content is refreshed from bottom to top which might be noticeable. But I still don't understand how turning it upside down would affect this.

Why don't we see it right-side-up? I rotated my phone degrees and I was not able to cause the jelly effect. Are you sure this is the cause? No, I've tried it several times today, it's definitely there.

But not so extreme as in the video. But in theory if a normal phone is rotated degrees it should be able to produce the effect if turning it degrees fixes it in an upside down mounted display?

And I thought I was one of the picky ones. Thanks for the update. Unfortunate that they decided to go this route.. I guess they never expected flipping the screen upside down would cause this phenomenon..

It's likely there, you might be able to see it if you scroll up and down really fast, but even then it's slight, and the jelly effect isn't noticable in everyday use. If you don't see it, then just enjoy your OP5 and don't worry about the jelly: The Jelly effect is barely noticeable, only if you pay attention to every single icon and look very very close, and still one icon or two moves just about a few pixels.

I actually find the effect quite noticeable on my HTC 10 when held upside down. It would be enough for me to return the phone, for sure. Glad I'm reading about this now as I was thinking about ordering an OP5.

Haha so it does not matter what side the screen is installed. Either u have it at the bottom or at the top. It is just more noticeable at the top cause that's where we are looking at.

If the S8 has it then the Samsung displays are to blame. I downloaded a rotate app and set it to rotate degrees to simulate the screen installed upside down. I think this one is the best to notice the effect: My op3 did that shit, especially noticable in a dark room with text scrolling.

Bah, guess I'll return my day old op5. URL shorteners are banned site-wide from Reddit we're just nice enough to let you know. You are welcome to repost your comment with the full URL, rather than the shortened one goo.

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns. I have a galaxy s6, and at first I couldn't see it, but if you pay close attention it's there.

I find it most noticeable in facebook or instagram. Really wish oneplus would put some effort into fixing it.. I will most likely send it back otherwise. People are saying you can't see it when you flip the phone over.

This is not true. Clearly there is some effect of refresh happening and it's more visible at the "top" of the screen. Since we're used to primarily looking at the top of our screens when scrolling, we notice it more.

If you flip the phone over and pay more attention to the bottom, you'll see it there too. How do you know if it's because the display was mounted upside down and or they screwed up their code?

Wow, tried it on my Moto G. It's faint, but I see what people are talking about. To be fair, I actually kinda like it. Yes, it's faint on the OP5 too. Juuust enough to notice it occasionally. For some reason I primarily see it on facebook.

It seems like it's gotten worse since I first received the phone. Almost as if the more processes that are running in the background, the worse it gets for me.

I could be crazy though. I don't know if I don't notice it, but I can't seem to reproduce the jelly effect on my Moto Z play edit: It might be had to notice. But she also can't see the difference in framerates over 45 FPS.

Maybe that has something to do with it. Cannot notice the effect when flipped on my 3. Maybe if I rotate my body degrees a d stand on my head. Nope, i have a keen eye normally too.

I'm scrolling fast and slow, looking for any shakey movement, presumably left and right I expect, but nothing. All edges of text stay perfectly in line. Nope, people who have experienced it said it happens on everything that has scrolling, I believe.

Just seen a vid of a demo of the issue. Is it really an issue? Thought it was a deliberate transition. A slowing down braking transition deliberately there when scrolling. Just like a trackpad on a Mac has.

Creating a smoother feel.

It's supposed to or not supposed to, I suppose look like this: At first, I thought everyone was just overreacting. Like, I can notice a very subtle jellyness on my display, but I don't see it if I'm not looking for it.

But after seeing that video, now I truly see what people are complaining about. That is very pronounced. I can see a very slight jelly effect when I hold my 3T upside down. But it's not nearly as bad as in the video.

I mean, it's certainly not the biggest issue in the world and I can imagine you'd get used to it after a while. I don't think this is a an "upside down screen" thing.

Is it possible that some setting people are using is causing this to happen? Has anyone with the jelly screen tried a wipe to see if that fixes it? What about collecting data on where the phones with jelly screen where made?

It seems like some where made in India, mine was made in China, maybe that could have something to do with it? If made in China ones do it, is there anyway to find out when it was made?

Perhaps one batch had bad screens if it's not a software thing, or one batch had a bad flash or something if it is software. It's just weird that some have it, and some don't. It would be even more weird if it's a software thing, cause we should all have the exact same software out of the box.

I glanced over a few articles about this today in my news feed, just thought it's another overblown thing. I just the saw video showing the effect, holy shit is it noticable. I have no such effect at all on my OP 3t and I have never seen any such effect on any smartphone ever.

I can almost guarantee OP will quietly try to reduce the effect through software update and claim 'People wanted it changed so we are changing it even though we preferred the original effect which was how it was supposed to be'.

The video makes it look way worse than it is. It is partially recorded in slow-motion. If you look carefully at the last few seconds of the video which is not in slow-motion, the 'jellyness' is almost non-existent.

It's an issue with the hardware, the screen was put on upside down and way that the screen refreshes causes it. If you take a normal S8 or Pixel and turn it upside down you see the same jelly effect.

Don't know why you got down voted. I just turned my OP3 inside down and I can see the effect. I never even knew. It's a cool effect. It's pretty weird that it works like that for different phones and all that.

If they admitted it, there would be a huge backlash and would probably have to recall all the phones. I just got my 5 today, and will probably wait till they quietly 'fix' it on the production line then see if I can do a warranty repair.

Or see what happens in the next 15 days. I don't expect a perfect phone, but I expect at least proper functionality. Heard it was because the display is mounted in reverse. That means they would need to change quite a bit of stuff to fix it.

I think it looks worse in that video than reality - some combination of either the shutter speed of the video camera, or the fact the video is only 30 fps. Also, the use case there is not very realistic - you can't read anything anyway if you're constantly jiggling your Twitter feed up and down like that.

It's not as prominent with normal ass scrolling. Shame on you OnePlus. You lost my respect. Now what other alternative did I have to replace my 3 years old phone? If Carl Pei and OnePlus are following it, it's official.

With that said, they're likely just CSRs and might not know more than you or I do, or Carl might have just given instructions to tell people "it will be fixed".

I'll give it a few days to see if i can get used to it or if there's a fix in the works. I do hope that the "Support" is right, you'd think they'd be more cautious with promises these days I'd almost say return it for a full refund, then order another one and hope it doesn't have it they might not let you return for full refund twice.

I have like 13 days left to return it. It will take them weeks to refund it with everything that's going on right now. Also, i don't have any of the other issues people are mentioning. So i'd rather keep my device and wait for an update.

I also don't have the problem or rather do but it's so unnoticeable I don't really care, and ordered with early drop. Could be a reason why. Looking at that video, you need some image on part of the screen to get squeezed.

I'm still on my old phone due to the wrong size sim, but I'm going to load up Web pages with lots of small photos and see what happens. Nobody had mentioned this or I haven't seen it, but there is a Mbyte update for the phone.

Also we should take note if this is on the 64Gbyte or Gbyte version. I have a OnePlus 5 and am not experiencing this issue but I am considering doing an RMA and returning it within 15 days just due to the way they responded to this.

You're going to return a phone because you don't like the manufacturer's response to a minor issue that your handset doesn't even have? It's the beating off behind the bush shit that OnePlus always pulls that's kind of swaying my return.

I thought they were past this. Can someone please make a comparison video between a oneplus 5 that has it and a oneplus 5 that doesn't. All of them must have it if the screen has no variance as they've stated.

People without the issue just don't have noticed it yet. The fact it doesn't happen to everyone's OP5 means by definition it is a defect. That's what defects are.

For me it seems that when night mode is activated there is no jelly effect. Also with animations with 0. I wanted to buy one, but waited to see external reviews n stuff. From the benchmark cheats to OP not wanting to acknowledge their mistake as well as the somewhat high price usd in uk It'll be a no for me.

Is it weird that I have a similar issue on both my Samsung Note 4 and Note 3 when the brightness is way down and the background is pitch black? There seems to be a purple-ish smear while scrolling.

It's delay turning black pixels back on or something of the sort. It's not entirely smooth so you get a purply effect when they have to turn on and off quickly.

It mostly does go away if I flip the phone upside down, and my previous phone has a bit of a jelly effect too, if I flip it upside down. So I'm thinking it simply comes down to what the brain is used to, and with time the jelly will become unnoticeable, like it is on other phones where the display is mounted "correctly".

This is possibly a design flaw more than a hardware defect, Atleast that is what this xda article is speculating. In my opinion, If what they have said here is true, this is a big price day-to-day experience you pay for the dual-cameras with a semi-accurate portrait mode.

Ofcourse, I hope this is not probably due to the display mounted upside down, but if it is, it is a big quality control issue and such devices must be RMA'd.

I suspect either the design itself or the hardware assembly is at fault here because if it were a software issue this should be rather easy for OnePlus to fix this. I don't know why people are downvoting this comment, I just stated what the article said, and to those who say this is not a defect, check out this video, I have been using Amoled displays for sometime now, this is NOT NORMAL.

The writer of this article has added some comments which you can find here. I won't edit this article to remove the claim that I believe is now inaccurate in the interest of transparency.

I was expecting some minor to non existent issue like the touch latency thing, but this seems pretty serious. Still, don't think this has anything to do with hardware, probably a software issue, vsync like others already mentioned.

I'm confused, does this apply to every headset, or some of them? I have noticed any "jelly" effect, or stretching There Is the teardown video here https: Not seeing this issue on my 5, thankfully.

I saw it on the videos floating around, looks annoying as shit. Honestly, I didn't notice anything different between the two, no matter how I tried to scroll. I only got the chance to try different web pages in Chrome, but none of them appeared any different, regardless of how slow or fast I tried to scroll.

I have no jelly effect at all. Not even when holding the phone upside down. Now I feel like I'm missing out on a cool "feature" Use of this site constitutes acceptance of our User Agreement and Privacy Policy.

Maybe only specific phones do it. But I tried on the three I have available to me at the moment, I noticed it on all, some worse than others. However, none were as bad as the OnePlus.

You guys really know how to nitpick the fuck out of anything. Just hold on a goddamn minute. They will fix it. The problem is that it may not be fixable. Unless they can force the screen to refresh from the top to the bottom.

Someone on the subreddit mentioned there are teardown videos showing that the display was installed upside down by design. Most of us use the majority of phone time looking at the screen. If there's an obvious issue with the primary component, it is a big deal.

Especially if it makes people nauseous. If you bought a pair of surround headphones and the left and right speakers were switched, would you "get used to it," or do something about it?

That's two very different things. A little bit of screen animation that's how I'm choosing to look at it isn't much of a problem. It's not changing anything. You don't read while the screen is scrolling that fast.

The problem isn't when the screen scrolls fast, mostly when it's slow-medium speed. But it's not a matter of visibility. It makes almost all horizontal animations wonky, and causes what looks like screen tearing.

There are some complaints from users, including myself, that it can make you kind of nauseous if you have sensitive eyes. Definitely doesn't look like screen tearing. It it did it would be called that.

It's still not something that happens when the screen isn't scrolling. It's such a small inconvenience. It would not be called screen tearing unless it the GPU couldn't output full frames at each reset.

That's why I said it looks like screen tearing. What may not be an issue to you may be an issue to others. Try to be empathetic instead of rude. Yes, I get the effect on my galaxy S7 when upside down, especially noticeable on Twitter.

But I kind of like it ;-. I noticed it and was curious if I was seeing things. Now knowing that it's happening for everyone and it's just a matter of the refresh happening bottom to top, I don't have to wonder anymore.

People saying they're sending their phones back over this are seriously nitpicking an otherwise very good phone. I honestly cant tell if mine has it or not, but then again i dont really notice it on the videos ether so maybe I shouldnt go looking for it lol.

So I'm not seeing this. But I just tried to flip mine upside down and it's not changing the screen. This is the "touch latency" of the op5, meaning that it's not really there but people will complain about it endlessly as if their phone is literally broken.

Not such a big of an issue for me. It jelly's when I flip it upside down. In normal use it's smooth. I'm in the US if that's what your looking for. I have the GB version.

Weird that I have June 14 yet having the problem. This is where bullshit drama begins. If it does this, what do I do? Not all devices are affected. I can't see it on mine. It's not that bad in real time on the actual device.

This is not happening on mine. This "PSA" is a deliberate troll. I'm here for you. Can someone ELI5 this? Seems weird that rotating it degrees would do this to the phone.

Can anyone explain why? Keep in mind I'm a noob and might be completely wrong. I flipped mine and I don't see it. It's slightly noticeable but once you know what it is it's really not a big deal.
