We got some great photos in Ireland, indoors and out, with no flash. I was only frustrated by the lack of longer zoom a couple of times. And, carrying it in a handbag, it's so light you don't even know it's there.
I now carry it all the time, and use it as many people use their phones. All I want to know is whether this camera takes better stills than its closest rival - the Canon G7X Mkii?
And how do you pick a focus point without a touchscreen? You can visually see all the tabs, and with each scroll you see the whole page. No having to scroll down endlessly as in other cameras.
So how would you improve it? Plus I have a second battery. On vacation I simply charge both in camera when in the hotel. No having to drag along a bulky charger - the whole point of a compact travel camera.

I wanted to open one of the raw files in my photoshop from you photo samples set of this camera, but the photoshop is telling me that Sony RX Mark v is not supported by photoshop CC. Is there a way to open the Sony's raw file?

I think it's fantastic that viewfinder, pop up flash, big screen, manual control, best lens, and finally 4K and 24 fs and mazzzing focusing and you pick on the battery life. What you think drives the new burst and focusing system???

There is a miniature screen inside the viewfinder and you look throw the main lens, and it packs inside the camera and not increasing the size of the camera, that is what canon and Panasonic could not do.
I made a mistake: Just after, i read here that the RXIV is much better better score, less "con's" etc I don't think that you can read scores like that. They are scored in the market they are launched in.
So 24fps burst is one of the main selling point of this new RX To reach 24fps the camera double 1 image every 3 images taken. Any details on this? From the videos I've seen, it's not a true 24fps.
It's like closer to Plus, it assesses every frame if in auto, so you'll see some shots slightly brighter or darker than the next. It looks kind of jerky There must be time between frames digital or mechanical.
It is in my mind, but I'm also thinking to an iphone7. I have a Sony and a Canon S, but recently I started to make more picture with the phone, a Samsung of intermediate quality.
Anyone as an experience? My favorite camera is still Nikon D3s which is old, but IQ and performance are still decent. Now I use Olympus M5 and M5. M2 for traveling light.

You know what amazes me? How much Sony is still fleecing people for the original RX I was put off by the f4. We are in an end game for the affordable high performance consumer camera at the moment and the recent jump in deliveries which so excited mirrorless rumors is probably just a temporary bounce due to relief of shortages.

The lens of the newer models is probably better but it isn't a slam dunk. I've taken loads of great shots at mm equivalent or cropped to upto mm equivalent. The newer lens would be worse for these shots.
I've also really enjoyed the F1. The newer cameras can't do that they are something like f2. Do you think that Battery Life would be significantly affected by an "always on" Touchscreen? Or is that a moot point?
I am looking for something that would fit in between 2 and 3. EM-1 is not huge and is both able to deliver excellent results and it can be configured to be convenient for me.
The cell phone offers decent image and it offers via an app good controls. Processed images can be printed to 17"x22" and when carefully processed the images are not easy to distinguish from those taken by D or EM-1 See.
See if you can spot images taken by these three cameras without pixel peaking. None of the current pocketable cameras offer me good enough compromise between image quality, good control and small size to fit between Olympus EM-1 and Nexus 6P.

What I love about this camera is that it's ultra portable and it has all the options found on my DSLR. The image quality is great and it also depends if you know how to use the manual mode.
My first DSLR definitely got me ready for all the menus on this camera. It does not feel cheap, it's got some weight to it, and that is a good thing. There is flash and a viewfinder. It shoots in 4k, which is a plus.
The only thing is the battery runs low a bit fast, which is way I picked up an additional battery. Overall, great camera, lots of options, and its portable. So many features tucked into something so compact.
Image quality is most important to me and the stills and video are both superb! There are more than enough menus and options for controlling every conceivable aspect of your shots more than you'd ever want to deal with at times, but nice to know they are there.
If you have the time, experiment around with them to see what they can do. I especially appreciate the viewfinder -- which can be very useful on bright days, the pop-up flash -- which can be tilted back for ceiling bounce flashes, and lots of ways to control very contrasty situations.
For travel pictures, it is hard to beat. Like a phone camera, it was always available, but the picture quality was always better. I got the replacement, the fifth iteration for the same reasons that I owned the original.
I do like the faster focus and although qualitative in my hands, the low light capability seems to be improved. Only slightly heavier and larger than the original. The eyepiece and tilting screen were not features I cared about, others may find them more useful.
Still a great er travel camera, one that you don't have to wear with a strap around your neck. I also started using 4k, but you are only limited to about 5 minutes which was the same issue the previous version had.
The high FPS shooting will come in handy for my kids sports. Here's some tip I just learned: There's a time-lapse app! I was considering a USB intravelometer.
The benefit of the app is that it leaves the USB charging port open and it works with a battery bank. Get the remote control app. You can use your phone to see a live preview and take pictures with it.

I'm six foot and it feels so small and slick because of lack of textures on camera body. I had to add the rubber grip to the front that Sony sells for added grip. Also purchased the glass screen cover for the back screen because it's always exposed and leaves an opportunity to damage the back of the camera.

The only reason to give a rating of 4 is that you have to buy items for the camera that should be standard. At this price point this should be included with a memory card.
Additionally, the camera has apps to allow for really neat features. I feel like I'm being nickel and dimed on one of the most expensive point and shoot cameras you can buy. What I love about this camera is that it's ultra portable and it has all the options found on my DSLR.
The image quality is great and it also depends if you know how to use the manual mode. My first DSLR definitely got me ready for all the menus on this camera. It does not feel cheap, it's got some weight to it, and that is a good thing.
There is flash and a viewfinder. It shoots in 4k, which is a plus. The only thing is the battery runs low a bit fast, which is way I picked up an additional battery. Overall, great camera, lots of options, and its portable.
So many features tucked into something so compact. Image quality is most important to me and the stills and video are both superb! There are more than enough menus and options for controlling every conceivable aspect of your shots more than you'd ever want to deal with at times, but nice to know they are there.
If you have the time, experiment around with them to see what they can do. I especially appreciate the viewfinder -- which can be very useful on bright days, the pop-up flash -- which can be tilted back for ceiling bounce flashes, and lots of ways to control very contrasty situations.
For travel pictures, it is hard to beat. Like a phone camera, it was always available, but the picture quality was always better. I got the replacement, the fifth iteration for the same reasons that I owned the original.
I do like the faster focus and although qualitative in my hands, the low light capability seems to be improved. Only slightly heavier and larger than the original. The eyepiece and tilting screen were not features I cared about, others may find them more useful.
Still a great er travel camera, one that you don't have to wear with a strap around your neck.
